Job Description:

Leidos is looking for a Systems Engineer for a position in Chantilly, VA. This position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph in order to be considered.

The Systems Engineer that will join its Infrastructure Team of software developers to provide IT and programmatic support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and new cloud technology. The team will work to provide support for its large-scale database, application development, large-scale file manipulation, data modeling, and data mapping. 

The Systems Engineer will be part of a team whose responsibilities include: patching, maintaining, and building Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) as well as  Linux and Windows operating systems; development using tools such as Bash Scripting, Python, Powershell or equivalent; configuring Hadoop, Cloudera, and Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR) instances; and building using Devops tools such as Jenkins, Nexus, Gradle, and AWS Code Deploy.

The team will coordinate and link the computer systems to increase compatibility and information sharing as well as consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles. The team will expand or modify systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow, analyze and study complex system requirements, and develop systems to meet these requirements.

The team will also be responsible for testing, maintaining, and monitoring computer programs and systems.

Mandatory Skills:

- Requires a BS Degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience.

- Demonstrated systems engineering experience utilizing AWS.

- Demonstrated experience performing Linux/UNIX system administration.

- Demonstrated experience with scripting languages such as Ruby on Rails, Python, or Java.

- Demonstrated experience using provisioning tools to build and deploy bulk groups of virtual/physical servers efficiently.

- Demonstrated experience building end-to-end systems.

Desired Skills:

- Demonstrated experience with Hadoop System Administration.

- Demonstrated experience with System Monitoring/Management tools such as Nagios, Tentakel, Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI), or Puppet.
