The Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) currently has an opening for a Federal Planning Intern (Summer) in our Centennial, CO office. The Federal Planning Intern will serve as a supporting member of the Project Planning and Integration (PPI) planning team engaged in long-range site and research campus planning for infrastructure and services in Antarctica, as well as major capital and minor recapitalization projects or upgrades for existing mission support facilities located in Virginia, Colorado, California, Chile, and New Zealand. Start date: Monday, May 25th, 2020.
Length of contract: 13 weeks.
Schedule: M-F (40hrs/wk)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare maps, tables, and graphics for new and existing major planning documents (ex: strategic plan, station master plans, system plans, planning process guide, etc.) as needed to meet the overall mission, vision, goals, objectives and imperatives of NSF and ASC organizations.
• Perform funding-constrained planning task activities over varied planning horizons (1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 50 years ahead) by preparing reports and slides including text, tables and figures.
• Provide meeting scheduling and assistance with interdisciplinary meeting facilitation and presentations.
• Review plans, reports, studies, designs, scopes for alignment and integration of major capital and minor recapitalization projects with the overall ASC and NSF program mission, vision, goals and planning intent. 
• Coordinate closely daily with the Senior Master Planner, Enterprise Planner and other ASC staff plus NSF partner organization staff to ensure smooth integration of planning to support the annual budget.
• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Must be proficient in creation and design of ESRI ArcGIS maps from existing databases.
Must be currently pursuing a MS degree form an accredited college/university in a related field.
Must have a minimum of 4 years total experience in planning, geography, landscape architecture, public administration, or civil engineering, including one or more degrees from a formal college education program plus work experience.
Demonstrable experience using Adobe InDesign, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualified candidate will have excellent writing and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple teams and technical experts about planning, facility, and utility design.
Must have reliable transportation and a valid US Drivers License.
U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
Individual must be capable of operating a standard desktop computer; must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Dual degree students (MURP + MLA, MURP + MPA, MURP + GIS Certificate) strongly preferred.
Experience with site planning, research campus planning, or resort planning preferred.
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams preferred.
Knowledge of federal environmental policies preferred.
Private consulting experience preferred.
