Interested in working alongside a team that helps keep our nation safe as it pertains to travel?  We have an immediate need for a Reliability and Quality Engineer in Tewksbury, MA to help optimize our Leidos Security Products, namely the Compact Advanced Personnel Screening Equipment ProVision 2 to start! 

Job Description Summary:

This mission critical role of Reliability and Quality Engineer’s mission is to improve the customer experience of Leidos Security Detection & Automation products by reducing significant field issues which are reported by our customers and field technicians.  In this very important client facing role, you will lead efforts to drive corrective actions for recurrent failures of our systems in the field. 

The Security Detection & Automation division is the leading supplier of security detection systems with a focus on checkpoint, checked baggage, air cargo and ports & borders security screening systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Your keen eyes and expertise will monitor field product performance and identify trending issues; You will prioritize based on severity, occurrence, safety and/or cost of each failure mode
  • Your communication and facilitation skills will be critical with coordinating field returns with customers, Third Party Logistics, Suppliers and Engineering in support of Failure Analysis globally
  • As a valued team member, you will partner with the reliability team to conduct detailed failure analysis, identifying root-cause of problems across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, firmware)
  • When appropriate, you will issue SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Reports) to Third Party Logistics, Parts Suppliers and Contract Manufacturers to address root cause of failures
  • To be successful in this role, you will collaborate closely with Supplier Quality Managers, Product Engineering and Supply Chain teams to drive containment and corrective action implementation
  • It is expected that you communicate field performance of the engineering systems, gather buy-in from peers and leadership on improvement priorities and urgency
  • Participation in continuous improvement activities, to take preventive actions for potential failure modes is essential to help the organization meet their objectives and goals

Successful candidate must have:

•BS engineering degree or equivalent from an accredited university

•A minimum of 4 years relevant or applicable skills/experience in technical project leadership

•Experience with equipment failure analysis a must

•Working knowledge of 8D structured problem solving to address root cause of failures

•Strong customer focus and influence skills

•Strong written and verbal communication skills

•Proficient statistical analysis skills

•Working knowledge of Quality Data and Quality Data systems

•Ability to independently manage complex tasks and assignments and lead them to timely completion

Considered a strong plus:

•Experience in electro-mechanical systems

•Knowledge of x-ray systems

•Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

•Project management experience in cross-functional environments

•Six Sigma Belt certification or skills
