Job Description Summary:
Security & Detector Systems is looking for an Accounting Specialist to perform cost accounting, sales and use tax analysis and reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform activities as assigned on a shared basis and the monthly/quarterly check list. This includes GL to PL reconciliation of revenue/profit, TB reconciliation, review TB for unusual balances, negative unbilled transfer, loss transfer, inventoried contract costs, negative AR and AP reclass
- Month end close – responsible for inventory reconciliations and ledger adjustments
- Perform analysis and prepare monthly liability accrual journal entries to ensure month end general ledger records and accompanying management reporting are accurate.
- Performs general ledger account maintenance, researching and resolving open/aging items to ensure monthly balance is cleared.
- Performs analysis and prepares correction journal entries to ensure accurate and timely charging to the ledgers, including program direct, and overhead sub-ledgers and the general ledger.
- Performs audit data requests and auditor interface for internal and external audits.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects to drive improved financial reporting, improved processes and controls, and adherence to US GAAP
- Work with operating segments’ controllers to apply US GAAP
- Support internal control environment, including enhancement of documentation related to suite of control
- Prepare BS Flux, MJE's reviews and document for corporate, segment or sector
- Prepare month end accruals, for capital and inventory. Work with the team to ensure that all indirect costs and I/C charges are invoiced

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; Masters 4+ (Bachelor’s 6+) years of experience in audit, accounting and/or internal controls
- Public accounting experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate to Advanced excel skills (pivot tables, V lookups, Macros).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires a BA degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience.
