The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) publishes aeronautical charts and related products in accordance with Interagency Air Cartographic Committee (IACC) specifications. These specifications are revised, updated, and modified periodically in response to technological changes, user requests, etc. via Requirement Documents (RDs) and Editorial Changes (ECs), which must be approved by the IACC members. Twice a year, the FAA conducts the Government/Industry Aeronautical Charting Meeting (ACM) to discuss aeronautical charting practices, products, specific depictions.
This particular position has two aspects: an IACC aspect and an ACP aspect. The IACC aspect of this task includes writing, reviewing, and publishing of RDs and ECs as well as maintaining a database of the publications, applying and inserting necessary graphics, track revisions, and providing proof copies of specification addition/change packages in accordance with IACC policy memos.
The ACM aspect of this task includes preparation of the agenda, the meeting folder and the Notice for the Federal Register, as well as notifications to participants and recording and distributing the minutes, so local travel to ACM meeting sites within the greater Washington DC Metro area will be required.
Knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker, focus working with Structured Element files, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Windows, and the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Excellent communication and writing skills.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant aeronautical field and 8+ years of related experience.
