Leidos currently has an opening for an Environmental Scientist/Chemist to support an Environmental Protection Agency contract. This is a hands-on environmental sampling and monitoring position for a high profile EPA contract. The principal duties of the position include maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of air, and water environmental sampling and monitoring equipment, including Gas chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS). A wide variety of hazardous materials may be encountered, including toxic industrial chemicals, and biological agents. Sampling and monitoring activities using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), up to and including fully encapsulated Level A, may be required.
Perform daily maintenance of environmental systems to respond to emergency responses.
Data review and report writing.
Shipping/Tracking of equipment to field sites and service/repair vendors.
- Bachelor degree in environmental science, chemistry, physics, biology or similar.
- Experience with Gas chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS).
- Familiarity with Method TO-15 and computer skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Ability to work early morning, evening and weekend extended hours, sometimes in a stressful field environment.
- Ability to travel with little advance notice.
- Must be able to obtain 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training certificate.
- Must be capable of performing field work and lifting 50 pounds.
