Leidos is hiring a Sr. Java API Developer for our SSA ITSSC II program in Baltimore, MD. As our Senior Java Developer, you will develop and maintain high-performing Java applications. You will have prime accountability for major projects and will develop detailed and robust designs, code, test, and implement proposed systems. You will demonstrate API design experience and be willing to challenge other team member's designs as well as receive and incorporate feedback. You will be responsible for creating maintainable, adaptable, scalable, defect-free code using software development best practices and coding standards (i.e. software reuse, refactoring, continuous integration, test automation, secure development, Test Driven Development, static code analysis, peer/code review).
In this role, you will analyze existing API services for their suitability for modification into an enterprise version. Based on product road maps, you will prioritize API services needed. You will provide the development of Application Programming Interface (API) components to support agency application development. You will build and test Enterprise APIs. You will support unit and integration testing of applications, including accessibility and compliance with Section 508, browser compatibility. You will provide advanced technical support with development and implementation of (API) components that enable projects to build and reuse code. You will provide technical support in the adoption of API standards and governance. You will also support the agency API standards and governance as well as provide technical writing support in the development and communications of API standards and governance.
- Bachelors' degree + 8 years or Masters' degree +6 years of professional experience specifically with strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Cloud, BDD/ TDD, and experience with API design and implementation.
- Experience with an API design tool such as webMethods or Apigee (1 year)

- Experience with Jira, version one (any number of years)
- Experience with the implementation of Section 508 standards for Web Applications.
- Exposure to writing Technical White Papers and systems design documents.
- Prior experience with federal or state governments IT projects.
