Job Description:
The Homeland Security Solutions Operation within Leidos is seeking a Software Developer with strong systems, software, and Agile experience to support a complex program to provide testing support for critical systems on a mission-critical program supporting the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). PSPD supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States.
In this hands on position, you will work collaboratively with the development team to deliver and enhance highly available, scalable, real time systems. You will participate in and/or direct major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, coding and unit testing.
The Software Developer will have direct oversight and accountability for all software maintenance and troubleshooting activities typically applicable through various CBP process and procedures. In this capacity, the person will be deeply engaged in the end-to-end application architecture, design, development, testing and operationalization of the developed products/applications. The position will also entail collaboration with various stakeholders outside of the core team, including but not limited to other technical specialists, product owners, and business stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Develop, test, debug, document and help operationalize various applications leveraging industry best practices
•Work closely and collaborate with various cross-functional IT specialists in implementing solutions
•Work closely with team members and key stakeholders to gather and validate requirements, work with leads to design solutions that meet the functional and technical requirements
•Provides work estimates for software development and configuration.
•Participate in Scrum Daily Stand-up, Sprint and iterative development activities, while preparing to take on any role within the agile team as needed.
•Participate in design activities leading to innovative solutions in meeting customer needs
•Collaborate with the Lead, Senior and team on application architecture design and troubleshooting
•Ensure adherence to internally defined application development and maintenance practices
•Follow established coding standards, perform code reviews, and improve standards to assure compliance
•Possess strong analytical skills required to troubleshoot issues, identify resolutions and be available for off business hours implementation and support
Basic Qualifications:
•Experience with Python Programming and familiarity with: Git (gitlab, github), Docker, Agile / Scrum methodology.
•Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related engineering fields, or equivalent experience
•12+ years of progressive experience in the IT industry
•8+ years of progressive experience in Microsoft Technologies
•Very good working knowledge of the core .NET application stack and other closely related .NET technologies
•Strong exposure to relational database (SQL Server) design, Oracle and SQL
•Experience with cloud based technologies required.
•12+ years of experience with GitHub, GitLab, Curl, JSON, Python, AWS, Kibana/Grafana
•Demonstrated experience with scripting languages Java and VBScripts.
•5+ years experience managing and tracking work using management tools like Jira and Remedy to follow and promoting Agile practices
•10+ years of progressive experience as a developer in an Agile environment
•Good exposure to software design patterns, Scrum framework, and various other methodologies
•Knowledge of various build automation and CI/CD tools
•Working knowledge of various data transformation/representation technologies such as XML, XSLT, JSON
•Exposure to various SharePoint Technologies
•Working knowledge of various common protocols such as HTTP, SSL, SOAP/Web services
•Good exposure of JQuery, AJAX and related client side technologies
