Job Description:

The National Solutions Intelligence Group at Leidos is looking for a Security Engineer to work at a customer site in Springfield, Virginia. 

The Security Engineer will provide information security services as a member of the program’s information assurance (IA) staff.  Under the direction of the IA Lead, you will support activities to manage, track, execute, coordinate, and report all tasks pertaining to the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) of the CGES system to include the generation, delivery, and maintenance of the system security bodies of evidence as defined in the customer’s Risk Management Framework (RMF).

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

Primary duties include defining system security requirements, development of secure products and software tools used for design, and development and maintenance of infrastructure and platforms.  Determine hardware & software compatibility with compliance requirements. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of necessary security functions.  Develop technical solutions that require collaboration with internal subject matter experts and deep analyses and understanding of impact on end-product/solution. Develop solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge. The ability to work independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results and/or project deliverables, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Duties may also include, but are not limited to, managing and enforcing security policies, training and educating end-users on proper security practices, conducting security and risk assessments using security frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF, Common Criteria), mitigating risk via security controls, testing and evaluation to certify and accredit commercial security products, ensuring privacy of data throughout its lifecycle, vulnerability management (scanning, assessment, reporting, and mitigation verification), and business continuity and disaster recovery.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required to start
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) implementation across multiple phases of a large program
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8 years of professional experience; or 5 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree
  • Experienced with generating and maintaining ICD 503 Security Body of Evidence (to include): System Security Plan (SSP), all required appendices, attachments, system test procedures (STP), security control traceability matrices (SCTM), security assessment results, and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms)
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (CISSP Certified) Active CISSP certification (or can acquire within 6 months of joining the program)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity/knowledge of Commercial Cloud Services (C2S), OS Security (Windows Server through  2012, Red Hat Linux), Firewalls, ArcSight (audit collection and review), Tripwire, Host Based System Security, Netwrix (Active Directory Auditing), and Network Intrusion Detection
  • In-depth knowledge of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process and requirements
  • Familiarity/knowledge of NIST 800-53, source for IA security controls
  • Ability to use ACAS to perform vulnerability scans
  • Ability to perform/analyze STIG compliance scans, executed with ACAS STIG scans
  • Follow open source InfoSec news sources to be alerted of vulnerabilities in software and applications used by the program to proactively push product owners to upgrade versions of applications prior to discovery by ACAS
