The primary mission of the United States Mint is to serve the American people by manufacturing and distributing circulating, precious metal and collectible coins and national medals, and providing security over assets entrusted to us.
Its cyber security program is one of the United States Mint’s critical needs and one of the most pressing priorities for the bureau’s Information Technology Department (ITD). The Information Technology Department is responsible for securing not only standard information technology infrastructure, but also an Industrial Control System (ICS)/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) infrastructure. ISD is responsible for maintaining regulations and requirements governing federal IT security, addressing the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber-attacks, and supporting an overarching effort of continuous organizational improvement and maturity. ITD maintains a continuous monitoring policy and a heightened focus on cyber security compliance and operations.
The Technical Writer will support the USMINT customer in writing and editing technical documents and white papers to be delivered to the government in response to published product, system or solution problems or requirements.
Will be responsible for taking very detailed notes of various program meetings and tracking actions.
In addition, will create presentations primarily using MS Visio.
Will create various weekly, biweekly and monthly reports.
- Draft, expand, refine and edit technical concepts or solutions into an easy to read, comprehensive, compliant and compelling documents.
- Create compelling White Papers and other documents.
- Interact with technical team members for content development.
- Become familiar and comply with government style guides
- Researches highly technical subject matter, organizes information from multiple sources and expresses technical information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience of readers.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires a BA degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience.
