Hybrid Tier Three Cyber Security Analyst and Cyber Security Engineer position at the U.S. Mint.
The primary mission of the United States Mint is to serve the American people by manufacturing and distributing circulating, precious metal and collectible coins and national medals, and providing security over assets entrusted to us.
Its cyber security program is one of the United States Mint’s critical needs and one of the most pressing priorities for the bureau’s Information Technology Department (ITD). The Information Technology Department is responsible for securing not only standard information technology infrastructure, but also an Industrial Control System (ICS)/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) infrastructure. ISD is responsible for maintaining regulations and requirements governing federal IT security, addressing the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber-attacks, and supporting an overarching effort of continuous organizational improvement and maturity. ITD maintains a continuous monitoring policy and a heightened focus on cyber security compliance and operations.
The operating environment at the US Mint has matured such that a hybrid Tier Three Cyber Security Analyst and Cyber Security Engineer position has developed.
The role of the Hybrid Tier Three Cyber Security Analyst and Cyber Security Engineer combines existing elements of each current US Mint SOC Tier Three Cyber Security Analyst and Cyber Security Engineer labor categories.
Shall have more than five (5) years of experience working within an enterprise operations environment with a focus on cyber security
Must have extensive experience analyzing and synthesizing information with other relevant data sources
Provides guidance and mentorship to others in the US Mint cyber threat analysis and operations center
Evaluates, interprets, and integrates all sources of information
Fuses computer-network attack analysis with counterintelligence and law enforcement investigations
Supports detection, containment, and eradication of advanced persistent threats (APTs) targeting customer networks
Must be able to perform security tools maintenance as required
Collaborates with other Government cyber-fusion teams
Publishes intelligence products to inform network defenders about advanced persistent threat (APT) activities, new detection methods: among other topics of interest
Supports multi-disciplined teams in the design and implementation of the cyber security system architecture
Applies cyber security standards, directives, guidance and policies to an architectural framework
Provides broad based experience and applies the experience to specific cyber security initiatives relating to architectural design and development
Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance
SANS: GCIH; GCIA SEI: CSIH CCNP CCNA-Security MCSE
Must have Nine (9) years of experience; with five (5) years of experience concentration in Cyber Security; Monitoring and Detection; or Cyber Intelligence Analysis – Tier 3.
Is required to have three (3) – seven (7) years of experience in incident detection and response
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: BS degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience
