Leidos Military and Veterans Health has a requirement for an IT Project Manager. The IT Project Manager will provide IT project management support for various BHIE/SCIP tasks and activities. BHIE is an Operations and Maintenance project.

The candidate is required to expedite and coordinate services to assist in managing complex projects. The candidate will manage assigned tasks to completion within the schedule, budget, and scope of the individual project. The candidate will ensure objectives of the O&M projects are achieved. The scope of projects includes infrastructure projects, application-specific IT projects, administrative projects, networking projects, security projects, and process improvement projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Follow VA and ITOPS IO standards and procedures for Project Management.
  • Facilitate project kick-off and status meetings and communicate individual roles and project expectations, as needed.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Operations and Maintenance project working closely with the VA PM; supporting with task lists, project updates and any issues or concerns that may negatively impact progress,
  • Participate in all formal project reviews with project sponsor.
  • Review project products to confirm acceptance and satisfaction with the QA staff.
  • Conduct/discuss reviews with the Program Manager on a periodic basis.
  • Keep the Program Manager, Customer, and project team informed of the status of the project being managed; orally at meetings and via email threads.
  • Coordinate activities with peer contractor as needed.
  • Coordinate activities for ad hoc requests from internal and external customers as directed by the VA PM.
  • Work with the O&M project staff to develop and maintain detailed project task lists and plans as needed to ensure that the work performed required to execute the subtask on the project.
  • Monitor project milestones and critical dates to identify potential jeopardy of project schedule, and discuss ways to resolve with the team.
  • Ensure that risks associated with the cost, resource, schedule, and technical aspects of the project are identified, assessed, documented, and tracked. All issues tracked must be accessible by the COR/VA PM(s) for any reviews and approvals required.
  • Candidate will work with Peer Contractor to ensure FISMA requirements are maintained for all BHIE SOPs; using industry and EO established project standards, procedures and quality objectives without requiring assistance from others. All documentation shall be coordinated with the BHIE Peer Contractor.
  • Review project tasks and activities with Leidos Program Manager on a periodic basis.
  • Review project-planning activities with the Project Team as needed and on an event driven basis.
  • Assist impacted staff, as needed to develop estimates for project’s effort, costs, and LOEs according to the specific situation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide IT project management support for various BHIE Operations and Maintenance tasks and subprojects.
  • Support the VA PM and serve as the Day-to-Day contact with the VA PM for BHIE in a highly coordinated, accurate, complete and focused manner. Must be responsive and successful completion of tasks initiated/assigned.

Basic Qualifications (required to be considered for this position)

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of experience. 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Be familiar with VA IT methods, standards, and structures, both current and evolving.  Ideal candidate will have prior VA IT experience at an advisory level.
  • Bring basic knowledge of Veteran’s Information System Technology Architecture (VistA).
  • Bring a basic understanding of networking protocols and infrastructure.
  • Have some familiarity with enterprise server operating systems (VMS, LINUX, MS)
  • Must be proficient in MS software products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook and Visio.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and operate with an extremely high level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Must be able to maintain composure when involved with a difficult situation (or person).
  • Self-motivated and assertive.
  • Ability to set priorities and adapt to changes in a quick and professional manner.
  • Must have VA experience.
  • Must be familiar with VA Standards and Protocols.
