With recent new program wins for mission critical networks, our footprint in this market is growing, and so are opportunities to join our team.  Leidos is seeking an Operations Manager to lead an outstanding technical and support team on a large program supporting a critical network services program for the U.S. Federal Government .

This position has organizational functional responsibilities to manage 24x7 operations, including Customer Support Center, Network Operations Center (NOC) and Security Operations Center (SOC) and coordination of all maintenance activities for the network.   Other responsibilities include ownership of day-to-day operational performance, including Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and the successful overall service delivery solution and timely coordinated remediation.  In this key leadership role, the Operations Manager has responsibility and ability to define, implement, and lead an integrated solution through cross-functional teams with authority to direct team activities.  

Characteristics necessary for success include: Experienced program and operations management and leadership skills on large communication environments (>$50M), business and technical knowledge and vision; disciplined strategic thinking; analytical presentation and problem solving skills; the ability to gain internal support; and the ability to establish and maintain a solid working relationship with users/clients, technical staff, managers, and peers. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

This position is located in Northern Virginia with local travel to Washington, DC and surrounding areas.  Occasional travel to customer and supplier locations (Domestic US travel). Must be able to get a public trust security clearance.  

Typical Minimums

Appropriate degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.

Required skills

  • 5+ years Program Management experience leading programs and 10+ years of experience in operations and maintenance management for communications services in mission-critical environments on  contracts >$50M
  • Strong leadership and communications skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work with customer and program office to achieve success
  • Proactive, superior attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Business acumen, strong analytical and problem solving skills, reliability and sound judgement
  • ITIL foundations certification
  • Ability to travel on an as needed basis

Desired skills

  • Knowledge of Government acquisition processes, prime contract flow-downs and performance based contracting.
  • Ability to gain internal support, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, and establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, division managers, and peers in the Group and across Leidos
  • U.S. Federal Programs with mission critical/public safety considerations
  • Previous experience with network engineering technology and providers
