The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) is seeking a Mid-Level Autonomous Systems Behavior Engineer for a position in Dayton, OH. The Mid-Level Autonomous Systems Behavior Engineer will work with other engineers in the LInC, the Office of Technology (OoT), and across Leidos to support multi-domain autonomy programs. This position will contribute to the Skyborg and Leidos autonomy architecture programs and represent Leidos capabilities in such systems to our customers, our internal and external partners, and the community.
The Mid-Level Autonomous Systems Engineer will support the execution of the research agenda in Autonomy and Autonomous Behaviors that focuses on delivering key capabilities to our customers and markets. You will support the development, design, and delivery of scalable solution patterns that enable rapid development of new behavior solutions across programs. You will work with a team of Scientists and Engineers who provide direct support to the Skyborg System Design Agent (SDA) Autonomy Team and will play a role in supporting similar activities across Leidos.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, articulate, and support the development of autonomous architecture subsystems and components that provide autonomous behavior capabilities to support the Skyborg program
- Assess, design, develop, and integrate AI-based autonomous components within autonomy architectures
- Work alongside other engineers and scientists developing and delivering autonomous behavior solutions in a range of technology areas, to include:
- Perception and situational understanding
- Planning and decision-making
- Behavior and action execution
- Collaboration and manned-unmanned teaming
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a Secret security clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), or engineering with minimum 3.0 GPA with minimum of four (4) years of prior relevant experience, or Masters with two (2) years of prior relevant experience
- Some knowledge and understanding of autonomous systems design
- Ability to discuss autonomous behaviors and how they are implemented within an autonomy architecture and integrated into an autonomous system
- Familiarity with AI technologies used in autonomous systems for planning, decision making, coordination, control, etc.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Secret clearance preferred
- Degree in AI and/or direct experience with developing AI/ML solutions
- Experience designing, developing and deploying autonomous system behaviors
- Experience with testing, assessing, and validating autonomous system components and behaviors
- Experience with Human-to-Machine and Machine-to-Machine teaming
- Familiarity with integrating and processing sensor data
- Familiarity with commercial and Open Source Autonomy / AI / ML / Data Science platforms is a plus
- Familiarity with some autonomous systems development tools
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools (e.g. AFSIM, Gazebo, AirSim, and Matlab/Simulink)
