Job Description:

The Leidos Defense Group has immediate career opportunities for Communications Planners, based at Vincenza, Italy.
Other locations available are at Stuttgart, Germany and Djibouti, Africa.

This position is in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) organization, USARAF located OCONUS. This position is required to travel OCONUS.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Communications Planner shall, consistent with technical direction provided by the customer, serve as the communications integrator responsible for the planning, coordination, employment, operation, and management of tactical and commercial communication systems and IT networks in support of the USARAF AOR. 

This includes providing technical and tactical advice to command and staff on IT matters and signal architecture design at the ASCC level. 


The candidate will be responsible for the base lining, validation, and deployment of communication packages and for planning both near-term and long-term operational communications plans support to seven (7) named operations, four (4) contingency plans, and eleven (11) contingency locations on the continent of Africa in support of the Combatant Commander. 
Refine and improve Operational Plans (OPLANS), Operations Order (OPORD), communication annexes, and appendixes. 


Develop communication branch plans and assess both near-term and long-term communications plans throughout the organization. 
Establish coordination and liaison relationships with DoD organizations and host nations, as required.
The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner.
Required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts.
Will participate and support Multi-National planning events, Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) events, Mission Assurance Assessments (MAA), Spectrum management, mobile communications capability, and Network Operations (NETOPS).
The candidate will support four (4) to eight (8) deployments to Africa per year. 


Basic Qualifications:
Currently hold an adjudicated/active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility and be able to maintain.
BA/BS + 8-12 years relevant experience, or additional relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Knowledge of ITSM Trouble Ticket system to record NETOPS outages and HAZCON events and assign to the appropriate supporting authority.
Must pass TESA.
Excellent written, oral, briefing, interpersonal, and technical skills.
Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:
 ITIL v3 – Foundation.
CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater).
Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs.
Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards
Experience with DoD IT security requirements.
DoD 8570.01 Certification Compliance.
