Job Description:
Leidos is looking for a Linux System Engineer to join a dynamic Customer team supporting large, complex and secure environments. This position is located in the Northern Virginia area and requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph in order to be considered.
Primary responsibilities include:
All aspects of the product development life cycle – creating, implementing, and supporting new product features and capabilities;
Improving data processing methods; monitoring and tracking system performance via metrics; managing system access control and security; and systems support including maintenance items such as patching.
The Linux Systems Engineer will establish and maintain pre-production environments and will assist in developing and implementing a plan to migrate existing applications from the physical server infrastructure to the enterprise level C2S platform.
They will also be responsible for helping to support hundreds of Linux/UNIX machines, VMWare hosts, and EC2 instances in a hybrid computing environment.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a TS/SCI with poly to be considered
Must have a Bachelor's degree and minimum 8 years experience or 12 years experience in lieu of degree
Demonstrated experience with Linux system administration and engineering
Experience with Linux CentOS 7, Red Hat 7 and/or Scientific Linux 5 (SL5)
Demonstrated experience managing backup and recovery and systems and data.
Demonstrated experience with configuration build support and documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and/or experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware and/or other virtualization platforms.
Demonstrated ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options and identify viable solutions.
Scripting experience
Experience with security standards, processes and tools
