Leidos Defense division is seeking a Field Operations Electronics Maintenance Specialist. The ideal candidate will provide in port maintenance support, repairs services and support for Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) mission equipment during T-AGOS ship in port periods and in-port availability periods.
The candidate will oversee maintenance completion by crew members on shipboard electro-mechanical and hydraulic equipment as well as electronic equipment to prevent mechanical failure and ensuring that all machines and equipment used by SURTASS vessels O&M crew are in good working condition. Must understand the administration and use of the U.S. Navy Maintenance Material Management System (3M). The candidate must be able to quickly analyze problems and implement/recommend solutions in a high-stress, time sensitive environment. Provide direct support for and quality control of SURTASS Mission Readiness Availabilities (MRA)/Mission Readiness Reviews (MRR). Conduct TL-29A System grooms and module balances when required. Perform equipment installation and training. Candidate will prepare operational and maintenance procedures and manuals as required. Preparation and submission of required engineering and administrative reports. Perform and provide quality assurance for repairs and modifications to equipment to ensure applicable maintenance standards are met.
Candidate will conduct engineering research and analysis on new and existing equipment and provide results with recommendations. The candidate will act as a liaison/coordinator with contract sponsor, TAGOS ships Master, sponsored ship riders, MILCREW, other SURTASS contractors, MSC, shipyard personnel and other government organizations. Ensure that safety standards are maintained in the course of performing duties. 75 % CONUS and OCONUS travel is required. Able to accept scheduled and unscheduled CONUS and OCONUS assignments and extensions up to 3 months with limited advance notice based on SURTASS program operational tempo. The candidate will cross-train on multiple systems and required to perform other SURTASS tasking as required. Must have or be able to obtain a valid U.S. passport. Position may require the ability to perform in and arduous environment. Successful candidate must be capable of passing a mariners physical per COMSCINST 6000.1.c and must maintain medical fitness for the position. The selected candidate may be required to work at sea on ships, rotating shifts and perform an excess of 40 hours per week. The selected candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain an international driving permit if needed. The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified material. Must be able to work under only very general supervision and to provide training to shipboard assigned electronic maintenance technicians.
Associates Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Technology and 4 of more years of experience or a graduate of US Navy electronics “C” school and 6 years of directly related military experience.
Curriculum must have dealt directly with the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of communications systems, navigation system and/or SONAR system.
Must have Secret to start and be able to obtain & maintain a Top Secret clearance level.
Selected candidate shall have a thorough understanding of COTS maintenance requirements, and open architecture implications.
Must be experienced in civilian or military naval operations and equipment maintenance.
Must have the ability to work under only very general supervision and to provide training to shipboard assigned electronic maintenance technicians.
Five (5) years of experience in preventative maintenance/repair of mechanical and electrical systems, working knowledge of electrical and mechanical controls, hydraulics and pneumatics.
Previous SURTASS ship rider technician experience a plus.
Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of the SURTASS COMM SUBSYSTEM which includes: SHF, UHF SATCOM and LOS, HF, NOW, IFF, SECURE VOICE and DATA CRYPTOs, CMS, KMI, EKMS, SIPRNET, ADNS/CFCP, NIPRNET.
