The Defense group at Leidos currently has an opening for a HPC Research & Development Engineer / Scientist to work in Springfield, VA on the RECON project, in support of the NGA's Research Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting edge technology in an R&D environment and support critical warfighter missions. This position will support several new HPC (High Performance Compute) systems designed to assist with very large algorithms, Big Data, and AI Machine Learning tasks in support of Research’s development of models and applications which include such massive processing requirements.
Designing, building, testing, and implementing HPC (High Performance Compute) systems
Contributing to training/utilization efforts by providing training and documentation on how end users will be able to access and use the systems and environments within HPC, that include Cray and NVIDIA clusters.
Work with a multidisciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, data scientists, developers, and data consumers in an agile fast-paced environment that is pushing the envelope of cutting-edge Big Data implementations.
MA/MS degree and 9 years of experience; OR 19 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Working knowledge of HPC systems and how they operate and the components of HPC servers, systems with many CPUs/GPUS and many nodes for parallel processing, networks that are multi-path and can move data at high speed into and out of the Nodes/CPUs/GPUS into RAM and to and from storage devices.
Working knowledge and understanding of high speed parallel storage devices and the many supporting hardware and software, and systems software toolsets required for running HPCs, managing them, and for end users to run their specific AI or math toolsets and programming languages for utilizing the systems.
