Job Description:

Leidos in Huntsville, AL has a current opening for a Lead Engineer to lead Agile SW Development teams and support  Information Technology (IT) operations, sustainment and modernization.  The position will require an independent minded person who can lead a team of software and IT professionals in an offsite facility.  A successful candidate will be capable of executing engineering activities to include definition and control of Agile SW development methodologies,  infrastructure planning, integration, and applications testing.  The lead engineer will work in cooperation with other companies and Government resources to develop, plan, coordinate and integrate systems-related requirements to support operational test needs. This position is expected to make infrastructure recommendations based on assessments of stakeholder requirements, develop and coordinate contract deliverables and reports and manage a team of up to 15 - 20 software and IT professionals and technicians to implement and maintain the solutions. Position will support solutions in a test environment and be the focal point for all SW development related activity within the project.  The position is expected to be a mix of hands-on work and management of the team. 


  • A successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related discipline.         

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with leading technical teams in Agile scrum methodologies

  • Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Minimum 12 years’ successful experience total supporting applications development and infrastructure projects

  • Knowledge of DOD system architecture, CMMI software development processes, integration, installation, logistics and field support of complex systems.

  • General knowledge that can support designing, developing, and implementing software test applications including networked integration testing, test configuration management, cloud architectures and data management

  • General knowledge of complex weapon system engineering as it related to designing, developing, and implementing a test solution capable of conducting ground tests of BMDS

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Scrum Master

  • Prior experience with conducting ground tests of Ballistic Missile Defense Systems (BMDS)      

  • Experience in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) mission.

  • IT / Network topology experience within the DOD and preexisting experience with Cybersecurity in a test environment.

  • Possess an active Secret or TS clearance
