We are seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to support EPA's Office of Air and Radiation (OAR), National Center for Radiation Field Operations (NCRFO), located in Las Vegas, NV. Leidos under contract with the EPA provides information technology (IT) personnel resources.  The network engineer will largely be responsible for designing and implementing network solutions.  Manage and troubleshoot the EPA networks for security issues and compliance, including EPA’s Tribal Air Training room, FieldOps  and EPA’s mobile command center networks. The network engineer acts as a point of contact with EPA enterprise network management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement networks which improves efficiency within EPA LAN network.

  • Install and configure networks which meet EPA Security Compliance standards,  assist in responding to EPA data calls and the annual Security Continuous Monitoring Assessment (CMA).

  • Maximize performance through ongoing monitoring of Cisco routers and switches, investigate any faults and provide a solutions.

  • Perform all firmware updates  

  • Work with vendors to identify new technologies, articulate solutions to EPA/management in the area of network design and administration.

  • Configure and perform updates to EPA wireless Internet; 802.11 Wi-Fi.

  • Perform routine network maintenance, as applicable.  

  • Create network diagrams using VISO and keep network documentation current.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience

Configuration, Management and Troubleshooting of Cisco Site-to-Site Virtual Private Networks(VPN)

Experience using  SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor or SNMP based applications

Experienced in configuring  virtualized server system and network services

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

Required Certifications:

CCNA Routing and Switching – Cisco Certified Network Associate

CCNA Security - Cisco Certified Network Professional

Desired Certifications:

MCSE-Microsoft Certified System Engineer

MCITP-Microsoft Certified IT Professional

CCNP Security-Cisco Certified Network Professional
