Leidos is currently seeking a Network Engineer to provide expert level support to the Network Operations Center (NOC). This individual will support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), customer networks, Intranet and Internet and other data communications systems or a segment of a network system.
Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
Maintain network hardware and software.
Serve as the on-site expert to proactively identify risks in the network and develop a plan to mitigate them.
Supports numerous business requirements as a senior member of the team for telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video).
Directs compilation of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance. Troubleshoots network performance issues. Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity-planning solutions.
Monitors and responds to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems. Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
Manages the purchase, testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems.
Provides the routine testing of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals). Analyze the test results and provide expert level solutions.
Utilizes software and hardware tools, identifies, and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
Must have expert level troubleshooting skills to support network systems when necessary and make improvements to the network
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Candidate must have a total of 12 years of applicable experience. The experience can be a combination of degree and work history. This can be a High School degree and 12 years of work history OR an Associate’s and 10 years, a Bachelors’ and 8 years, a Masters and 6 years or a PhD and 2 years of work history.
Advanced networking qualifications including MPLS, BGP, OSPF, LAMBDA. LAN/MAN/WAN/Optical specialization.
Utilization of common ticket systems (Remedy, ServiceNow) and common network management tools (HPOV, HPNA, Solarwinds, MNS, Netcool, etc).
Hands on troubleshooting and fault isolation of IT business systems.
Strong understanding of the OSI model and configuration of routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS, BGP, LDP.
This position requires ability to satisfy a government administered high risk screening.
Preferred network certifications Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Juniper JNCIA, JNCIS, or JNCIE, ITIL Foundations, and/or CISSP
