Job Description:

Leidos has a career opening for a Director, Project Management & Construction located in Reston, VA.

Position Summary:
As a Director, Project Management & Construction, you will provide oversite and process standardization for all projects occurring in the portfolio.  This will include oversite of a JLL team of ~15 project managers. This is a critical function as workplace occupancy and related facility/construction costs are the largest overhead controllable expense within the enterprise/group behind salary and benefits.    

•Senior member of a multi-faceted team providing leadership and management of a corporate real estate portfolio for a $13B international company consisting of over 360 sites/~10M square feet in over 40 states/20 countries with a budget of over $275M in annual operating budget

•Provide overall leadership and accountability for all projects occurring in the portfolio
oServes as the lead Leidos POC for construction on all large strategic projects
oWorks closely w/ the Directors of Real Estate and Facilities in developing costs and overseeing execution tied to a large number of real estate initiatives (i.e. new facilities, facility consolidations, downsizing and disposition)
oOversee a task-organized JLL team of experienced specialist employees in project management and related functions (occupancy planning, acctg)
oModulate team size/participants based on the complexity, scope of work and aggregate workload
oAccountable for interfacing with the Facilities team to ensure they are in sync with all construction related projects
oWorks closely w/ the both the Leidos and JLL Strategic Sourcing teams to ensure the best vendor contracts (General Contractors, Architects, and other related vendors) are in place, and associated execution costs are closely tracked
oUtilizes expert domain knowledge to refine project management processes
oServes as a subject matter expert for all construction/project related activities
•Lead and drive commitment to corporate financial goals via value capture efforts by providing overall leadership and management on all real estate/workplace related projects for:
oRefinements of construction management processes and associated financial reporting
oCreative procurement/sourcing strategies
oFootprint optimization/space consolidations
oLocation closures
oRefine processes around project management aspects of bid and proposal efforts

•Liaison between various levels of business leadership, Corp Real estate team members, and a variety of JLL teams (both in the market and on account)
oCommunicates with parties within and outside of own project/family, and has responsibility for communicating with diverse parties external to the organization.
oNegotiates and influences others to understand and accept new concepts, practices and approaches within the project management realm.

•Daily coordination with finance, transaction management, project management, occupancy planning, and facilities management, along with a variety of project related vendors.

•Lead and facilitate meetings with senior leadership, corporate services, individual contributors regarding workplace strategy, and a variety of vendors
oImproves upon existing solutions, programs and processes
oRequires ability to communicate with leadership (both internal and external) regarding matters of strategic importance associated w/ projects in the portfolio.

•Serve as the key project poc for oversite of the build out of special requirement spaces to include SCIF, SAP, customer communication requirements, data centers, training centers, conference centers, and generators to meet overall requirements for programs supporting national security

•The Leidos CRE department has the largest strategic partnership in the enterprise for functional services.  With such, the CRE team members you will be working with are largely outsourced contract partners who are subject matter experts in their individual areas.

Basic Qualifications
•B.A. or B.S. and 15+ years of relevant experience in Construction Management or related field. Additional years of experience may be used in lieu of degree.
•Minimum of 15+ years’ experience in construction management
•Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience managing or supervising teams of multiple discipline professionals
•Strong knowledge of the project budgeting and construction procurement processes
•Ability to read construction and contract documents
•Thorough Knowledge of MS Office applications including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.  Knowledge of other design/construction related software (i.e. Blue Beam, Revit etc..) is a plus
•Strong knowledge of a variety of types of specialty construction (i.e. general office, SCIF, labs, data centers)
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Demonstrated skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
•Exceptional interpersonal skills
•Ability to multitask
•Ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels of the company
•Ability to work as a member of a multifaceted team
•Ability to see the big picture, as well as execute at the tactical level
