Leidos is looking for an ATCALS Electronics Technician II METNAV for an exciting opportunity in Kandahar Afghanistan.
The designee will be qualified to perform complex diagnosis repairs and modifications to aviation ground electronics systems and various other equipment. The designee performs required periodic maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, install, and test equipment as required. The technician will setup, maintain, and store airfield systems or deep-field camp systems that support aviation operations and weather observing. This position is customer oriented, and the government reserves the right to decrease hours for the particular individual if the Electronics Technician II is not being effective. Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.
Maintaining navigational aids and navigational aid systems; maintaining meteorological observing, collecting, and display systems; using specialized test equipment and software controlled diagnostics to isolate malfunctions; repairing mechanical and electrical assemblies and subassemblies; tuning, aligning, and adjusting equipment; completing flight inspections; maintaining inspection and maintenance records; maintain Facilities Status Records (e.g.: AFTO 499, 512, 514, etc.); verifying operational condition of METNAV and integrated systems to be within prescribed parameters IAW applicable Technical Order/Manual or other supporting documentation (commercial manuals, FAA Orders, etc.); repairing, adjusting and aligning TACAN, VOR, ILS, and integrated system to pass recertification and periodic flight checks.
US citizen with a Department of Defense security clearance (selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information). This position requires a minimum of 3 years experience in electronics repair, maintenance, and testing and shall also have a minimum of 3 years electronic repair, maintenance and testing of Meteorological and Navigational Aids systems.
Must be a graduate of a high school or a trade school & possess valid US driver’s license with photo.
Education: High School diploma or GED. Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics for navigations aids and meteorology systems and/or demonstrated ability to perform leadership and maintenance tasks and 3 years or more of experience.
Experience: The METNAV Technician III must meet the qualification requirements and have at least three (3) years experience:
Maintaining meteorological and navigation systems and equipment
Inspecting equipment at specified intervals determining operational status
Using specialized test equipment and software controlled diagnostics to isolate malfunctions
Repairing of mechanical and electrical assemblies and subassemblies
Tuning, aligning, and adjusting equipment
Completing flight inspections
Maintaining inspection and maintenance records
Independently verify operational condition of METNAV and integrated systems to be within prescribed parameters IAW applicable Technical Order/Manual or other supporting documentation
Repair, adjust and align TACAN, DVOR, ILS and integrated system to pass recertification and periodic flight checks.
Experience supporting NSPA requirements.
