Job Description:

Leidos is hiring a Space Systems Engineer knowledgeable in foreign spacecraft systems to support the National Air and Space Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. An active TS/SCI is required; all work is onsite.

Position Description:

Research multiple foreign spacecraft on assigned systems; to include static and dynamic characteristics (e.g., external configuration, layout and location of internal subsystems, antenna and solar panel motion, construction techniques, and materials descriptions).

Mentor, guide and direct the team of military, government, and other contractors to achieve high confidence answers to problems of interest.

Work independently, at times be a team leader, and demonstrate effective writing/verbal communication skills.

Perform technical research, and direct the technical research of others on foreign satellite systems, subsystems, and components and assess their capabilities.

Aid NASIC in developing an understanding of in-depth technical details of individual subsystem, components, and improve the fidelity of satellite design products and body-of-knowledge. Satellite components to be researched and assessed include attitude determination & control sensors and actuators; payload (sensors); structures; propulsion; electrical power; thermal control; tracking, telemetry, & command; and other miscellaneous components.  In cases of unknown components, making a best estimation of what would be used.

Primary Responsibilities

*Research and advise on system specs and details of components of multiple foreign spacecraft systems

* Demonstrate knowledge of functioning satellite systems, mentor others on this knowledge

* Research components or entire vehicles, direct research of other team members

* Produce high confidence answers to problems of interest on space systems, fill in gaps of team models

Basic Qualifications

*Active TS/SCI clearance

*BS or Engineering degree and 8+ years of experience OR MS with 6+ yrs of experience. Candidates with space hardware experience preferred

*Ability to work with engineers who are generating 3D CAD models of space systems

* Strong analytical and communication skills and ability to work individually and with teams

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of electrical space avionics and antenna systems.

* Mechanical understanding of space systems
