Leidos is the primary contractor executing the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) on behalf of the National Science Foundation. Leidos is seeking a System Manager for the Pipeline system, which performs essential functions for the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). The Pipeline system is built on the Microsoft Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform and is customized for the USAP to provide tracking and logistics management of all USAP personnel. The System Manager uses Pipeline to manage, track and report on USAP personnel as they deploy to and from Antarctica. The USAP relies on the accuracy and efficiency of Pipeline System management to ensure the success of deployment tracking processes and Station population management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The System Manager interacts with multiple divisions and agencies, spanning the globe in order to manage all personnel tracking and logistics. The System Manager also acts as the Product Owner for Pipeline, analyzing application needs, determining system enhancements, and prioritizing the strategic system direction in support of USAP goals and objectives. This position serves as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert on the software tool. The successful candidate will build and manage strong customer relationships to optimize the use of the system and maximize its applicability to the USAP.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborates with globally-dispersed teams to create Task Forces in Pipeline that align with the USAP mission and Antarctic station population limits.

  • Create and manage Workforce Organizational Units and Task Force Billets for all USAP participants.

  • Responsible for data collection, consolidation, management and reporting on Antarctic station population projections.

  • Eliminate excessive population spikes for Antarctic stations through data analysis and recommendations.

  • Expand inter-department and organizational coordination to reduce errors in data and improve transparency.

  • Approves Pipeline system access requests.

  • Reviews and updates standard operating procedures.

  • Interfaces with system stakeholders to understand and approve system change requests to ensure alignment with strategic direction and USAP mission.

  • Ensure that other parties responsible for entering information into Pipeline are doing so in accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Interface with Pipeline vendor to provide system update/patching projections, bug reporting and upgrade strategies.

  • Provide Pipeline system Subject Matter Expertise by facilitating system implementations,  user acceptance testing and “train the Trainer” functions as needed.

PHYSICAL AND / OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Deployment to Antarctica may be required in this position (estimated 3-4 week deployments). This position requires successful completion of the National Science Foundation (NSF) physical, dental, and psychological examinations for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action. US citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

  • 5 years of experience in the field of Information Technology; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree

  • Prior experience as a System Manager and/or Product Owner

  • Familiarity with Microsoft or other CRM tools

  • Prior USAP experience (preferred)

Skill Requirements:

  • Demonstrated managerial capabilities, business acumen, and strategic perspectives

  • Strong aptitude for customer engagement and customer relationship management

  • Ability to  bridge the gap between IT and non-IT professional roles to support effective working relationships

  • An understanding of general information security considerations

  • Experience in managing vendor relationships
