LEIDOS, is currently seeking a Personnel Security Specialist to support a program in Springfield, VA. The PerSec Specialist will provide a range of personnel security support services with a focus on processing and adjudicating cross over requests for incoming personnel. This role will work independently and communicate closely with other PerSec Specialists or Task Leads.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process electronic requests for incoming cases being sent thru a database and maintain personnel security records for military personnel assigned on military orders
Initiate military and civilian periodic re-investigations using Office of Personnel Managements Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-Qip)
Review Questionnaire for National Security (SF-86) and Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) forms to detect errors or omission of information
Operational knowledge of the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS), Scattered Castles (SC), Personnel Investigations Processing System (PIPS), Central Verification System (CVS) and Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and other personnel security databases
Familiarity with Security Executive Agent Directive 7 (SEAD 7), Security Executive Agent Directive 6 (SEAD 6), Security Executive Agent Directive 4 (SEAD 4) and Security Executive Agent Directive 3 (SEAD 3)
Provide customer liaison with all levels of customers for internal and external inquiries
Respond to written/telephonic client inquiries pertaining to case initiation status
Provide internal reports to Senior Level Management
Prepare accurate and quality reports of investigation
Process quality applicant and employee background investigation initiations established schedule
Process quality contractor e-nominations per established schedule in accordance with ICD 704, ICD 709, and ICPG 704.4 standards
Submit appropriate documentation to applicable databases in accordance with established timeframes
Prepare Records Check reports, as required, using the established templates
Identify any outstanding actions on an ongoing basis to the Team Leads
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
TS/SCI level security clearance required
Bachelor's degree with 7+ yrs. experience or equivalent. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum of 5+ years specialized experience in working security programs
Requires the ability to analyze complex data and make appropriate program recommendations
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel internal and external
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills to engender rapport with military personnel, civilians, and other contractors at all levels of DoD, IC and NGA
Knowledge of national security program directives and standards is a must
A demonstrated ability to work independently and with little supervision in customer's facilities is required
Excellent writing and speaking skills are essential. An ability to make critical judgments away from host support activities while on travel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Self-starter, with ability to establish priorities, resolve immediate security issues
Comfortable dealing directly with senior management desired
