More About the Role:
This unique Systems Engineering opportunity provides a challenging role on a high-visibility DoD program through engineering support to the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), the largest information technology (IT) network in the world.

A successful candidate will apply sound, efficient Systems Engineering (SE) to develop and manage the foundation of the Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practice – creating the SysML model, integrating the MBSE tool suite, and detailing the model-based systems engineering processes – in support of other MBSE system engineers who create, maintain, update, modernize, and refresh the capabilities and components to the NMCI.  This senior position is a member of a small team that is responsible for providing the core competency for MBSE, SysML, MBSE processes, and Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM) and MBSE Tool Suite across the entire NGEN-R SMIT program. This candidate is expected to be hands-on within the model and MBSE tools.

As the Subject Matter Expert, this position plays a key role by providing the foundational SysML model elements, change management of the model, training, and MBSE tool automation and integration in support of the NGEN-R systems engineers who develop analysis products that support SoS and System level engineering decisions, interoperability assessments, formal and informal engineering reviews and technology readiness assessments and the associated designs, simulation, and test.

What You'll Get to Do:
•Provide support to using MBSE tools and techniques to define systems interfaces, requirements and behaviors. Support system design, requirements development and functional allocation to hardware, software, operator and other segments and other system components. 
•Work with IT domain experts to determine how to model NMCI service areas, develop modeling and test case patterns, develop simulation experiments, and identify visualizations for formal/peer technical reviews and analysis. Identify and specify tool automation opportunities to increase efficiency.  
•Develop SE process model and change management processes/procedures for the model, MBSE style guide and modeling procedures, SysML/model training materials, model-based technical review artifacts. Provide MBSE/SysML/model training to systems engineering team.
•Establish/Tailor/Adapt the MBSE methodology for the NGEN-R contract and champion MBSE across the enterprise for use in all phases of the system lifecycle, from preliminary initiative and concept analysis through operations and maintenance
•Demonstrated expertise and experience with using No Magic’s Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM) and suite to develop models of system requirements, architecture/design, interfaces, and simulations. (Rhapsody expertise may be accepted, but CSM is preferred)
•Provide foundational patterns and cross-cutting model elements to support creation of “to-be” models to capture the structure, behavior, and configuration settings that help assess the impacts/implications of change
•Develop methodology, define patterns for simulation experiments, and support other systems engineers in utilizing CSM’s Simulation Toolkit and other simulation tools to run simulations on the system baseline or evolving system designs or in the context of realistic mock-ups of the intended user interface.
•Translate systems engineering processes from traditional document-based system engineering efforts to delivery of model-based work products to customers as required
•Provide input to the NGEN-R SMIT MBSE Implementation and Style Guide, the MBSE Training Plan, develop training exercises, and train the Team, other NGEN-R service providers, and the Government on its application.
•Collaborate and coordinate with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines. 
•Provide leadership, direction, and coaching for junior team members on MBSE, SysML, and CSM.
•Be responsible for leading key MBSE-related activities as requested (e.g., modeling MBSE processes, developing patterns, test cases, and simulations based on input from domain experts, identifying MBSE tool integration requirements).

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
•12-15 years’ experience as a Systems Engineer and/or Software Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
•Deep understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices.
•Experience applying SysML-based MBSE methods, tools, and frameworks to develop rigorous specifications and designs of commercial and/or DoD systems/components.
•Able to synthesize knowledge from multiple domains to apply to new, complicated problems.
•Experience working in large enterprise operations environments that include: identification, development, analysis of enterprise IT activities, solutions/risk mitigations, artifacts and migrations.
•Experience applying systems engineering fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
•Experience in collaborating with other enterprise technologists both internal and external to resolve complex technical issues.
•Experience with MBSE tools such as:
--No Magic’s Cameo Systems Modeler, Collaborator, Teamwork Cloud.
--Proficient with MBSE tools (Magic Draw or Rational Rhapsody).
--Proficiency in SysML and DODAF/UPDM/UAF.
•Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex system problems and develop innovative solutions. 
•Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of system integration activities.
•Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
•Must be able to work independently to develop innovative modeling approaches and optimizations.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, and other systems engineers in the development of complex software systems.
•Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
•Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
•Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
•Travel may be required (post COVID).

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
•Master’s degree in Systems Engineering.
•Leadership experience.
•Defense industry experience.
•Experience with employing Digital Engineering tools specific to the Navy IT solution.
•Familiarity with the following tools:
--Atlassian JIRA.
--BMC ITSM Suite.
--Syndeia Model Federator.
--Riverbed Netplanner or other similar network and/or data center detailed design tools.
--ExtendSim.
--Mininet.
•Certifications:
--OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) Model User or better (experience more valued than certification).
--INCOSE Certification.
