The Gateway Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) Integration Support Lead will work directly with a NASA Human Health and Performance (HHP) counterpart to ensure Health and Medical Technical Authority (HMTA) requirements are in place for the entire HALO vehicle design lifecycle. The position joins a team of integrators and subject matter experts (SMEs) who ensure the NASA Gateway Program is adequately incorporating and implementing HMTA standards from NASA-STD-3001 into vehicle design. The position obtains and maintains broad knowledge of all human health and performance requirements and engages Discipline integrators and SMEs for the technical details. Our integrators are assigned to specific human health and performance discipline areas such as crew health, environmental factors, medical operations, physiology, anthropometry, strength and biomechanics, maintenance and housekeeping, safety, habitability and architecture, information management, and displays and controls. Human Systems Integration strategies are implemented in order to inform HMTA standards and efficiently support Human Spaceflight Programs. The Gateway HALO Integration Support Lead will monitor how well HMTA requirements are met by the contractor, ensure that issues of unmet or under met requirements are documented, communicate the status of these issues to the NASA HALO Integration Lead and the Gateway Chief Health and Performance officer, and prepare materials for communicating awareness or escalating issues as needed. . The position will interface with HMTA and HHP management as well as with Gateway Program personnel and HALO contract personnel. Lessons learned while providing support to Human Spaceflight Programs are leveraged to improve HMTA standards and strategic processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as Gateway HALO Integration Support Lead for Northrop Grumman’s (NG) Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) design
Coordinate with NASA HHP HALO Integration Lead, Gateway Chief Health and Performance Officer, HHPC Gateway Integration Lead, Gateway HHP discipline Integrators, and HHP subject matter experts to establish appropriate flow-down and implementation of HMTA Standards and supporting documentation
Coordinate with NG HSI lead and support personnel
Manage and track HALO actions for HHP discipline integrators
Coordinate with NASA Gateway Program Production Office and NG personnel
Implement and use necessary tools to support team strategy and processes, such as SharePoint and DOORS
Provide insight to HALO compliance with HMTA mandatory standards as well as inform HMTA decisions
Coordinate and participate in HALO document and design reviews, develop corresponding summary assessments, and follow up on resulting actions
Maintain requirements mapping from HMTA standards to HALO documents. Develop and maintain corresponding gap analysis
Review and assess integrated test and analysis activities, formulate, summarize, and represent an HMTA position based on subject matter expertise
Develop position papers, presentations, and/or requirements interpretations for HMTA issues
Participate in HMTA meetings, Gateway Program meetings, Northrop Grumman HSI meetings, HHP meetings, and internal team meetings; develop and deliver presentations as necessary
Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Assurance plans, policies, and procedures
Basic Qualifications:
B.S. degree in systems engineering, biomedical engineering, biomedical science and 10 years recent NASA human spaceflight program experience. An additional 8 years of of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership experience in human systems integration and experience with NASA Technical Authority or JSC Human Health and Performance Directorate is desired.
