Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a Linux Administrator for one of our Application Services contracts. Candidates research and evaluate new concepts and processes to improve performance. Candidates analyze cross-functional problem sets, identifies root causes and resolves issues. Assists more junior level technicians, specialists, and managers in their activities. Candidates may work individually, actively participate on integrated teams, and leads multiple tasks, projects, or teams. This position may oversee and monitor performance across several disciplines, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues. Provides guidance and direction to lower level technicians, specialists, and managers. Assists more junior level technicians, specialists, and managers in their activities.
Position can be performed in the DIAHQ, DIA Reston Campus or contractor Herndon VA facility if preferable to successful candidate.
Primary Responsibilities
Execute efforts supporting incremental software deliveries that could require reconfiguration and continuous restructuring / builds of the current infrastructure as new baselines are delivered.
Candidates will initially be responsible for: GOTs/COTs SW installs, monitor system health, remedying problems, Security Hardening, perform updates and patching.
Can be expected to work individually, participate actively on integrated teams, and lead multiple tasks, projects and/or teams.
Oversee and monitor performance across several disciplines, and when required, take steps to resolve issues.
Expected to perform the larger and more complex tasks that are elevated from senior level technicians, specialists, and/or managers.
Provide expert guidance and direction to Government and Vendor senior level technicians and managers.
May direct multiple contractor and subcontractor teams through to project completion.
Responsible for installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware. Duties may include updating to new systems, as well as support on current systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space, and implementing critical system patches.
Influences development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results. Recommends and develops new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of function’s strategy and operations. Leads and manages works of other technical staff that has significant impact on project results/outputs.
Resolves highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation. Develops solutions that are highly innovative, and achieved through research and integration of best practices.
Basic Qualifications
Specific Work Experience with the following: Background in Linux administration, particularly RedHat
Current Security+ CE Certification
Experience performing system backups, maintaining archives, and data recovery.
TS/SCI with CI Poly is required.
DoD 8570 compliance or information assurance certification commensurate with technical objectives and services required within the task order.
Education: High School diploma/GED with 10 years of experience, or Associates degree with 8 years of experience, or Bachelors degree with 6 years of experience, or Masters degree with 4 years of experience, or PhD with 4 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
Good working knowledge of scripting languages (sh, bash, perl)
Experience with VMWare vSphere
Experience with NetBackup
Experience with VMWare storage technologies (e.g., VMDK, vSAN)
Familiarity monitoring systems using Splunk
