The Defense Group at Leidos is looking for a Systems Engineer in Ft. Belvoir, VA.
JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will have at least 4 years Systems Engineering experience and at least 4 years hands on software installation and integration experience. The selected candidate will be responsible for the installation of software (including operating systems) and related development tools, configuration management tools and standard COTS software. Engineer will maintain systems in production and provide support (patching, STIGs, troubleshooting, etc.). Knowledge and prior participation in a configuration management processes is required. Candidate should also have experience with software and code scanning tools such as ACAS and SonarQube. Database knowledge will be very helpful in this role.
Selected candidate will be assisting a small team of Systems Engineers running Production and Development systems. Candidate should be experienced with Linux and Windows operating systems, virtualization technologies, DoD information assurance requirements and STIG checklists. There will be daily interaction with the team, customers and our Government representatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Design/development of the system (examples: they would research options to fix a solution, down-select a product, present to management their top three, once an option is picked they would set it up in our test environment) and the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the system (once it's out of the test environment, they are in charge of hardening, maintaining patches and operability of services and then any changes). There is probably more time spent in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting since once a system is operational it stays there.
•Installation and configuration of operating systems including Linux and Windows
•Security hardening
•Installation of COTS software including specialty software such as life cycle technologies including Gitlab, Jira, ClearQuest/ClearCase, Bitbucket, Redmine and the like
•Creation of scripts to support the management of systems and tools
•Provide solutions which ensure CM and security accountability
•Baseline management, ensuring accountability for products and versions
•Customer Support
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
•Requires BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience. Relevant working experience in lieu of degree
•Current, unexpired, Comptia Security+CE
•Vendor specific certification or training to meet DoD 8570/8140 requirements
•Red Hat and Windows Server Engineering experience
•Scripting experience with Powershell, Bash, AWX, Ansible or like scripting languages
•Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Gitlab, Atlassian Bitbucket, ClearCase/ClearQuest, Redmine, Microsoft Team Foundation
•Windows 2012, 2016 and Windows 10 Engineering and troubleshooting
•Active DoD Top Secret clearance
Telework is currently in effect for the duration of the COVID Pandemic or until DoD lifting of Pandemic policies. Place of work is on site at Ft. Belvoir, VA.

•Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) review and implementation

•Microsoft Group Policy (GPO) updates, creation, maintenance and troubleshooting
