The Civil Group is seeking an experienced Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Analyst to support the FAA’s FOIA Office. The position is located in the Washington DC area, with possible travel to other locations in the National Capital Region (NCR). Additionally, the position may require up to 25% travel outside of the NCR.
In connection with the pandemic, the duties for the position may be performed remotely initially and until customer requirements change.
Responsibilities:
Using familiarity with FOIA to timely process FOIA requests, including understanding how to collect documents responsive to FOIA, determining the applicability of FOIA exemptions, determining claims of confidential business processes, preparing any necessary redactions, and supporting the FOIA appeals process.
Redacting any sensitive and confidential business or pricing information.
Using tools to collect Electronically Stored Information (ESI) and other data that may be subject to FOIA and organizing cases in SharePoint.
Evaluating and dispositioning FOIA exemption claims and preparing appropriate correspondence to requestors.
Ensuring the scopes of pending FOIA requests are properly defined.
Communicating effectively with legal counsel and management on program updates, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrating an ability to use eDiscovery to support the disposition of a federal agency’s FOIA requests.
Qualifications:
Typically requires a college degree and four plus years of prior relevant experience or Masters degree with two years of prior relevant experience. Or 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
· Ability to train small groups on how to use a customer facing tool.
· Proficient in documenting processes and policies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint.
· Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
