Job Description:

The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for Security Specialist to support an expansive Navy program. This position is part of a large program supporting Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN).  The candidate must possess the confidence to learn new tasks related to Defense Program Security and implement security procedures that will prevent unauthorized access to customer and company information. The candidate will also ensure aspects of the Leidos core capabilities are compliant.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between the program office and corporate security; working to oversee and manage a team of geographically disbursed personnel required to administer CAC card requests, and verify security eligibility. The ideal candidate will oversee a team required to support Common Access Card (CAC) authorizations, and manage Contract Security Classification Specifications (DD254), Program Classification Guides, Intelligence Community Directives, and all applicable laws and regulations regarding export-controlled information and technology and government policies.  Duties will include developing processes and tools to effectively manage CAC and security requests, implementing processes to support program execution efforts, collaborating with hiring managers, and CAC administrators to ensure timely processing of requests, and proactively support personnel through the process of obtaining the required identification. The Security Manager will also be responsible for managing metrics reporting, and training and mentoring employees that provide support to the program.

The ideal candidate will have strong management and communication skills, with the ability to drive personnel to complete security documentation and processes in order to prevent any delay of service. The candidate must have strong data management skills, with a focus on data accuracy.

Basic Qualifications  

  • Requires a BA degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent 8 years of Security experience

  • Prior team management experience, with the ability to serve as a mentor to supporting personnel

  • Previous experience in the development and management of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  • Experience with the development of tools and databases to support security metrics reporting

  • Oversee the development, execution and maintenance of program security and CAC processes and associated documentation

  • Responsible for collaborating with corporate security personnel to meet requirements

  • Ability to identify security risks, develop mitigation plans/corrective actions, and report to stakeholders and program leadership

  • Develop and manage processes and workflows to create efficiencies within the PMO

  • Serves as a mentor to program personnel, advising them of security and CAC requirements

  • Ability to develop timelines, and drive tasks to closure by defined due date

  • Comprehensive understanding of the background investigation process

  • Ability to problem solve, and escalate issues, when needed

  • Ability to effectively communicate with program leadership, program personnel, and functional staff

  • U.S. Citizenship and Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Industrial Security

  • Knowledge of NISPOM, Intelligence Community Directives, JPAS, DISS, eQIP, NISS

  • Resourceful in solving problems and capitalizing on opportunities

  • Professional Certifications/Affiliations

  • TS/SCI clearance
