More About the Role:
This Systems Engineering (SE) opportunity on the U.S. Navy’s Next Generation Enterprise Network – Recompete (NGEN-R) Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) will allow participation on a high-visibility DoD program that provides engineering support to the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), the largest information technology (IT) network in the world. This opportunity will provide many opportunities to challenge and grow your skills as an SE.
The Architecture & Design Engineering Lead oversees a team of systems engineers to support ongoing activities as well as new projects to maintain, transform, and modernize the NMCI. A successful candidate will provide sound, efficient SE to create, maintain, update, modernize, and refresh the capabilities and components to the NMCI. The candidate will utilize an MBSE approach that provides rigor, repeatability, and flexibility to support the needs of the customer.
What You'll Get to Do:
•Support aspects of system engineering for NGEN-R SMIT, to include technical planning, design, development, integration, assessment, and requirements analysis, as well as future capability needs (near and long-term) to drive the design and maintain an IT Enterprise.
•Significant collaboration and coordination with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
•Comply with ITSM processes and procedures.
•Comply with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance and use MBSE tools.
•Analyze, evaluate, and plan methods of approach to provide solutions.
•Develop systems engineering artifacts such as system engineering plans, specifications, and design documents.
•Create and maintain architecture and design documentation.
•Collaborate with technical experts to synthesize solution architectures and designs from requirements and constraints.
•Maintain SE documentation throughout the system lifecycle and provide systems engineering support to other activities, such as software development, hardware configuration, verification testing, installation, deployment, operations, and maintenance.
•Mentor and review the work of junior team members.
•Develop and maintain processes, checklists, and procedures for architecture & design.
•Review and approve the architecture & design work of team members.
•Direct systems engineers performing architecture & design tasks to ensure progress according to technical objectives within budgetary and schedule guidelines.
•Oversee the architecture & design of both new and existing IT modernization, expansion, and improvement projects.
•Lead architecture & design analysis, review, and validation with customers, stakeholders, and team members for NMCI projects and changes.
•Manage the architecture & design baseline across a number of active projects and change requests.
•Organize the means to achieve solutions to highly complex technical problems.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
•Requires BS degree and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 10 years of prior relevant experience (Preferably in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university).
•Eight (8) or more years’ experience as a Systems Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
•Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active Secret clearance to start the program.
•Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments.
•Expertise with architecture & design documentation, synthesis, and validation.
•Experience applying systems engineering fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
