The Leidos Innovations Center currently has an opening for a space systems engineering manager. This is an exciting opportunity to use your systems engineering experience to support the design and development of new space sensing capabilities on a variety of programs. We are looking for candidates that want to shape the future of space sensing in support of missile warning, missile defense, technical intelligence, battlespace awareness and civil/environmental applications of infrared technologies and software solutions. Primary Responsibilities
Space systems engineering management. Daily – use analytical skills and tools to evaluate program information to solve complex problems. Develop and use performance metrics to hold internal team and SubKs accountable for performance. Roll up sleeves and understand the details and then communicate actions needed across the team. Track budgets as course and initiate course corrections when needed.
Lead sections of design reviews including collecting data from SubKs and internal team members ensure we meet our milestones on time and achieve milestone approval. Brief results to the Customer. Lead your IPT and report status to the Program Manager. Work closely with other senior team members. Step in as the program matures and chair reviews of test and integration activities.
Basic Qualifications
- Requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years or prior relevant experience.
- 7+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
Space systems engineering management. End to end knowledge of space systems development from requirements design, previous participation in design reviews e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR. Experience with spacecraft vehicle assembly integration and test and/or EO sensor payload development though test. Demonstrated leadership in driving results per the contract IMP/IMS and CSOW. Space subsystem CAM and/or IPT lead experience. Proven experience in developing performance metrics for the team, understanding of SWaP constraints and analyzing and managing margins for subsystems. Must have be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance. Ability to do some minimal travel.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience at Space and Missile Systems Center, NRO or NASA/NOAA desired. Launch and early operational experience desired. CAMEO and SysMil with MBSE experienced desired. Ability to obtain TS/SCI desired.
