Leidos is hiring an Information Technology and Communications Technical Event Implementer within the Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) to coordinate and manage the Information Technology and Communications (IT&C) technical events in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). The Information Technology and Communications Technical Event Implementer provides administrative and coordination support for technical events that deploy or support the USAP mission in Antarctica. This position supports the overall National Science Foundation (NSF) USAP objectives.

***100% telework is allowed for this position and the travel time expected is up to 10% and may include short-term (2-6 weeks) deployments to Antarctica.***

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Information Technology and Communications Technical Event Implementer is responsible for managing the programmatic onboarding, deployments, administration and Antarctic activity planning of technical events such as vendor maintenance or partner agency activities that are in support of the ITC mission, or NSF partnerships. The span of this position is all USAP sites (CONUS, New Zealand, Chile, and Antarctic Stations) including any of the IT or Communications disciplines. This position typically supports communications infrastructure events to include SATCOM terminal maintenance and support, partner agency communications systems and radio communications systems. This position is the primary point of contact for NASA and Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) partnerships with the National Science Foundation. In this role, this position ensures NASA and JPSS events are supported by Leidos ASC and the IT&C department. This position acts as a liason between these events, the NSF and ASC.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Customer service and support for NASA and JPSS technical events/partnerships

  • Coordination of NASA and JPSS needs with ASC, NSF and other program partners

  • On-ice coordination for NASA and JPSS during the Austral summer season at McMurdo Station to include transportation, training, cargo, workspace allocation and scheduling support

  • Administration and coordination for all technical events sponsored by the IT&C division of ASC as needed

  • Assistance in onboarding and processing technical events to include PQ and travel support for technical event participants

  • Coordinate with NSF stakeholders to ensure partner agency expectations and service levels are appropriate

  • Coordinate support for technical events with ASC and NIWC divisions, Antarctic station management and IT&C management

  • Monitor progress of on-ice support from CONUS as needed

  • Ensure proper safety, workplace and programmatic trainings are provided to technical events

  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL AND / OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Deployment to Antarctica may be required for this position. The individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 6 or more years of Customer Service experience

  • Project management experience preferred, but not required

  • Technical event experience preferred, but not required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required

  • Prior USAP experience preferred, but not required

Skill Requirements:

  • Self-starting and engaged

  • Demonstrated organization and customer service skills

  • Aptitude for customer engagement and customer relationship management

  • Experience using Enterprise Application Software (EAS) scaled applications

  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements

  • Excellent communication skills
