Job Description:

Leidos Defense group is seeking a Satellite Field Technician to support the Thule AB Communications Satellite Program in Greenland. The candidate is responsible for providing support to engineers. The candidate will communicate directly on a technical level with the SES GS customer(s) or the clients of this customer. The candidate will perform continuous monitoring of the performance of transmissions to maintain trouble free communication access. In addition, this position initiates corrective actions to restore interrupted service in the event of a failure in the satellite communications system. There will also be general responsibility for maintenance of the earth station facility both indoors and outdoors environments. The Field Technician carries a high level of responsibility to the customer’s satisfaction, its business interests, and Leidos.

  • Duties include collecting, maintaining, organizing, and compiling technical data as well as creating, building, assembling, modifying and/or repairing replacement units.

  • Candidate must demonstrate ability to operate earth station and test equipment.

  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot, isolate problems, and return communications service to operation quickly.

  • Candidate will be required to communicate and demonstrate organizational and technical understanding with engineers and customer.

  • Candidate will work 12-15 hour shifts, and must be able to work independently and have ability to multi-task.

  • Extensive knowledge of satellite communications equipment desired.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in satellite telecommunications engineering.

  • Experience with digital data and communications systems.

  • Willingness to work with high voltage power amplifiers and climb antenna structures.

  • Experience with fiber optic systems.

  • Requires a valid driver's license.

  • All work is performed in Greenland.

  • Clearance Required: Secret

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of satellite communications equipment desired.

  • Associates Degree in Communications preferred or equivalent technical training
