Cloud computing continues to allow us to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation. To continue this transformation, we’re seeking an experienced Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud engineer with expertise in design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects and critical mission systems in the cloud. The ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based technology, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance & operations and advanced industry knowledge is key to keeping Leidos on the cutting edge. From day one, you’ll have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IT operations and supporting our customer’s missions, and an ongoing impact on our overall growth.
 

Primary Responsibilities
•Lead in design, planning and implementing integration of cloud solutions and capabilities into mission systems and applications.
•Lead requirements, designs and backlog management for cloud and DevOps development activities.
•Evaluate technologies and solutions to increase DevOps, cloud automation, CI/CD pipelines, cloud environment security monitoring, cloud simulation & testing in support of business and mission infrastructure and Operation (I&O) transformation.
•Develop, test and deploy cloud configuration scripts and infrastructure as code (IaC) to enhance cloud high availability architectures and DR capabilities.
•Evaluate cloud software coding practices for compliance with STIGs and other cloud security and defense in depth best practices.
•Lead agile planning and estimation activities to break down large tasks into smaller tasks for execution in agile sprints.
•Participate in agile scrum meetings and work within SecDevOps best practices
•Drive collaboration across other engineering teams in cloud, software and system engineering to develop and reuse cloud specific CI/CD  and DevOps best practices.

Basic Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree anf 4 -8 years experience in computer science, engineering, or related field and 3+ years of cloud and container experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
•Proficiency in cloud architectures, services, design patterns, DevOps, and comprehensive knowledge of cloud architectures and DevOps tooling.
•Hands-on experience designing, implementing and testing cloud solutions in cloud environments.
•Understanding of software engineering and secure coding practices.
•Understanding of APIs and interface
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively within cross functional teams.
•Excellent team player, enjoys working and collaborating in an agile team environment
•Strong, self-motivated desire to learn new technologies, tools, frameworks, and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with Java, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS Lambda, Ansible, CloudFormation or TerraForm
•Knowledge of agile development processes and DevOps tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence and GitLab.
•Knowledge and practical experience in continuous integration, delivery, and automated test tools such as Jenkins, Git, SonarQube and Artifactory.
•Current cloud certifications (e.g. AWS or Azure)
