The Maritime Solutions Division (MSD) of Leidos is currently seeking a self-motivated and resourceful candidate to fill the position of Electrical Engineer. Leidos MSD develops and deploys advanced technology solutions that address existing and emerging maritime missions of national importance for a broad range of customers across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, other governmental agencies and commercial clients.
In this role, the selected candidate will work with a team of engineers and scientists developing innovative solutions to complex engineering problems. The position will design and test hardware used in high reliability advanced ocean sensor systems. Typical types of hardware may include data acquisition systems, embedded systems, and digital telemetry systems (RF, optical fiber, or satellite). This junior position will report to an Engineering Manager and work under the guidance of senior engineers with opportunities for career advancement.
Position may require travel to and coordination with engineering activities at other Leidos facilities and government facilities in multiple locations across the United States, the United Kingdom, and other locations. Initial focus will be on support of operations and maintenance activities at the Southeast Alaska Acoustic Measurement Facility (SEAFAC), the South Tongue of the Ocean Acoustic Measurement Facility (STAFAC), the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre (BUTEC), and other US Navy programs.
Some typical responsibilities include:
Develop circuit designs (schematic/firmware/digital/analog)
Develop firmware and software as required in support of circuit designs.
Perform circuit/system simulations
Oversee development of prototypes and production PCBs
Perform research and development activities in a lab or in the field
Provide support for scientific measurements and verification/validation activities
Produce detailed test plans, procedures, and reports
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited program
Experience or coursework with analog and digital circuitry design
Basic familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and multimeters
Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Willingness to travel and to work aboard marine vessels at sea
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearance

Experience with Schematic capture (OrCAD or Altium), Linux command line, Python or C, SPICE simulation, Matlab, Verilog, Microchip PICs, Xilinx FPGAs, National Instruments LabView
