THIS IS A FULL TIME TELEWORK/REMOTE POSITION

Leidos is looking for a Systems Engineer to support the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) End User Support Services contract.  The successful candidate will be a member of the Engineering team responsible for working closely with the HUD HITS team to ensure the adherence of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

The Systems Engineer role provides technical expertise; planning design, development, and integration, verification and validations and fielding across a SDLC/Agile team to ensure system application requirements and user stories are ready for implementation. This role supports systems implementation and upgrades including documenting system application requirements, system interfaces, and data sources; and, supporting technical planning, development, integration, and verification and validation. This role refines customer roadmaps, enterprise epics, and strategic requirements into detailed requirements and actionable test use cases delivered by the team.  Cross training to include systems engineering, testing and integration, documentation is highly desired.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Mapping application/hardware requirements to existing and new test cases

  • Create test plan and procedures for functional, systems integration, regression testing, and test automation

  • Contribute significantly to technical planning, system hardware-software-network design, development and integration, verification and validation, and fielding activities.

  • Contribute significantly to evaluations of technological alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems; works with team to resolve complex multi-domain systems issues.

  • Perform systems requirements analysis, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition, technical management, integration, system testing, and quality assurance

  • Perform automation tasks through scripting and testing

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering/development, computer science, information technology, and 4 years of progressive IT experience focusing on systems engineering, integration testing, and in the usage and operation of Windows operating systems, servers and clients. (Windows server 2012/2016 and Windows 10). An additional 4 years of experience and/or relevant certifications will be considered in lieu of degree. A Master's degree and 2 years' relevant experience will also be considered.

  • Knowledge of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) with direct experience supporting all phases

  • Experience in installation and testing of the Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications to include Microsoft Office 365, Kofax PDF Advance, Acrobat PDF Reader, and Microsoft Chromium

  • Ability to troubleshoot code

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well in a team setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing technical documentation including requirements, system designs, test procedures,  transition plans and operation concept documents

  • Previous full cycle Integration and Test experience

  • Prior experience with HUD

  • Exposure to Cloud Concepts

  • Exposure to Project Management or Agile methodologies

  • Experience with stress testing tools (Selenium, Load Runner and/or Python)

Must be able to pass a HUD Public Trust background investigation. Due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residence status is required.
