Leidos has an opening for a Systems Engineer to support the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) End User Services (EUS) program. The Systems Engineer will be a member of the Systems Engineering team responsible for special projects including the troubleshooting, design, migration, implementation, enhancement, and optimization of LAN/WAN devices or products and desktop infrastructures.
The candidate will be skilled in Windows 10 endpoint management, Microsoft SCCM/MECM to include packaging, Windows Server/Active Directory, and data communications technologies. This role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly understand and resolve customer problems. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interface with and present to customers and Management.
Leading or participating in technical teams to evaluate, design, and implement the rollout of new or upgraded technologies including cloud-based, mobile, and security systems
Developing system design architecture and documentation
Authoring white papers and trade studies
Developing patch management solutions for distributed and remote user communities
Developing solutions to technical problems requiring deep technical knowledge.
Endpoint troubleshooting and management and remote application deployment, scripting, and solution development
Leading or participating in technical teams to rollout or upgrade enterprise applications
Troubleshooting IT systems (servers, data communications, security appliances, and end-user systems) at Tier-2 and Tier-3 levels
Bachelor's degree in software engineering/development, computer science, information technology, and 4 years of progressive IT experience focusing on systems engineering, design, implementation, enhancement and optimization of LAN/WAN devices, products and desktop infrastructure. An additional 4 years of experience and/or relevant certifications will be considered in lieu of degree. A Master's degree and 2 years' relevant experience will also be considered.
Demonstrated technical expertise and the ability to apply engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice
The ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones
The ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface with government staff, managers, and colleagues
Experience providing O&M support to complex, mission-critical systems
Experience working independently to troubleshoot and correct operational issues
Demonstrated experience configuring, designing, implementing and troubleshooting the following technologies:
SCCM/MECM/SCCM in the Cloud
Windows 10 Endpoint Management and Disk Imaging
Application Deployment & Patch Management
PowerShell/Batch Scripting/Win32 Installer
Windows Server 2012 & 2016 Admin, Active Directory, GPOs
Hands on experience with the implementation and use of network monitoring, fault management and performance analysis tools
Familiarity with data center infrastructure and exposure to routers and switches
Familiarity with network security concepts, best practices and technologies
Familiarity with Virtualization Platforms (Nutanix, VMWare/vCenter)
Experience with network/systems/application monitoring tools
Exposure to Cloud Platforms – Azure / AWS
Experience working on US Government projects
Must be able to pass a HUD Public Trust background investigation. Due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residence status is required.
