Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a talented and diversely capable Systems Administrator to work collaboratively and in support of an outstanding team of software developers and engineers in Chantilly, VA. The GeoRover software program (www.georover.com) team, develops a commercial suite of tools within the Esri environment for Leidos customers. Primary Responsibilities
The System Administrator will be independently responsible for installations, upgrades, migrations, configurations, administration, and security of hardware and software systems associated with the GeoRover programs requirements. The job responsibilities include providing developer end user support as well as the ability to drive efficiency, remedy, and innovative technical solutions. Duties entail ensuring systems are securely connected to network resources, monitoring and maintaining control compliance, and performance optimizations demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of virtualization and configuration of client and server operating systems.
The System Administrator would also support new initiatives to migrate existing development systems to new cloud hosting environments. This would including a primary role in the design, deployment, configuration, and management of the cloud infrastructure in accordance to IT benchmarks, architecture, and security control standards.
Cybersecurity
Maintain continuous compliance with IT benchmarks and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
Monitor hardware, operating system, and application server logging to identify and implement the rectified operational issues
Maintaining system security technical documentation and briefing systems status in meetings
Virtual Machines
Design, install, and administer virtualization (VMware and Hyper-V) products.
Client-side System Administration includes virtualized Windows 10 workstations utilizing Microsoft Office and ESRI ArcGIS as the primary application base
Systems
Install, configure, troubleshoot, migrate, monitor, and update system components such as web servers, databases, virtual machines, backups, and secure multifactor authentication
Document and maintain system configurations and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Test, maintain and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems
Implement and manage disaster recovery and COOP plans, systems, and operations
Perform data backups as defined and required
Asset Management
Perform full life-cycle of computer hardware and software; to include, price estimation, evaluations, purchasing, physical installation, inventory and physical decommission activities
Maintain hardware and software technology refreshes, ensuring milestone compliance while coordinating with application owners to minimize disruptions
Maintain license servers and audit hardware and software asset inventories
Basic Qualifications
US citizenship is required with the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
Technical Bachelor's degree and 4-8 years of relevant experience
Virtual Machines
Experience configuring and managing bare metal and hosted hypervisors using VMWare (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter)
Experience configuring, deploying, and managing persistent and non-persistent virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) machines
Working knowledge of networking concepts and technologies (TCP/IP, VPN, vLAN, DNS, DHCP)
Web Application Server
Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and hardening front end web application servers (Apache, Tomcat, WebSphere, IIS)
Experience installing, configuration, maintaining, and hardening back end relational database management systems (RDBMS) (MySQL, Microsoft SQL)
Hardware and backup
Data Storage expertise (Dell EMC Data Domain, SAN, NAS)
Backup management software administration (Veeam, Veritas Backup Exec)
UPS Backup power management experience
Hardware monitoring and maintenance experience (Firmware updates, OpenManage, RAID configurations, Hard drive upgrades/replacements)
Operating Systems
Manage and maintain currently supported and subsequent Microsoft (MS) Windows Server & Client Operating Systems (OS) on physical and virtual operating environments
Understanding of technology areas such as Active Directory, NTFS, Group Policy, DFS and the ability to maintain other Windows core services
Fundamental understanding of authentication mechanisms such as Kerberos, LDAP, MFA, PKI, and NTLM and use of necessary tools to troubleshoot them
Training, experience, or formal education in the security hardening of information systems DISA STIGs or vendor hardening guides
Training, experience, or formal education in the assessment of software and hardware vulnerabilities for applicability and the remediation or mitigation of applicable vulnerabilities using Nessus
Functional
Responsible for entire projects or processes with multiple priorities within a technical area
Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)
Strong organizational, planning, time management, communications skills.
Ability to independently manage development systems with a strong work ethic
Desires to learn and grow, and has an ability to self-teach with minimal guidance
Possess strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and verbal/written communication skills
Demonstrated experience in system administration technical writing, creating and updating system specifications, knowledge base articles, configuration, status, and network architecture or data flow diagrams
Preferred Qualifications
Server/Workstation Infrastructure Automation
Experience developing automation scripts in PowerShell, BATCH, VBScript, Python, or BASH
Experience with automation technologies such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet
Experience integrating commercial product Application Programming Interfaces
Working knowledge of software engineering processes and methodologies (SDLC, Agile)
Familiarity with software engineering Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA, Crucible/Fisheye, and Crowd).
Familiarity with Continuous Integration/deployment (CI/CD) using source control, build, and testing tools (SVN, GIT, Teams, Perforce, Jenkins, and Bamboo).
