Leidos is seeking a Information Assurance Intern in Arlington, VA.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Information Assurance intern will be exposed to the two major roles in information assurance, Information Assurance Manager and Information Assurance Technician.
IAM - Responsible for developing effective initiatives for information assurance and management options. They manage information professionals to measure risks and vulnerabilities. In addition, they are in charge of reporting different compliance issues, verification processes, and policy violations.
IAT - Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software IA problems pertaining to their computing environment (CE). Install and operate the IT systems in a test configuration manner that does not alter the program code or compromise security safeguards.
Enterprise IA Team Support - Assist with maintaining the corporate Information Assurance resources.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security program, policies, procedures, and tools;
•Providing technical advice, guidance and administering information technology (IT) principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information system resources;
•Implementing and advising on IT security policies and procedures to ensure the protection of information transmitted through the use of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN);
•Installing, operating, maintaining, configuring, testing and securing various operating systems and; conducting risk analysis security testing and certification of modifications or changes to computer systems.
•Assist in the system security authorization processes.
•Assist in writing and developing System Security Plans (SSPs), Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms), Risk Assessments, Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), and supporting documentation for systems subject to NIST SP 800-53.
•Implement applicable patches including IA vulnerability alerts (IAVA), IA vulnerability bulletins
•(IAVB), and technical advisories (TA) for the CE operating system(s).
• Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software anomalies. Install and operate the IT systems in a test configuration manner that does not alter the program code or compromise security safeguards.
•Install, test, maintain, and upgrade network operating systems software and hardware to comply with IA requirements.
•Work with other privileged users to jointly solve IA problems.
•Management of SharePoint collaboration environments.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
-Currently pursuing a BS degree in Information Technology, Management or Cybersecurity or a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
-Ability to work in a group environment.
-U.S. Citizenship is required.
