More About the Role:
This Systems Engineering (SE) opportunity on the U.S. Navy’s Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) program will allow participation on a high-visibility DoD program that provides engineering support to the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), the largest information technology (IT) network in the world. This position will provide many opportunities to challenge and grow your skills as an SE.
A successful candidate will provide sound, efficient SE to evaluate new customer needs in support of NMCI. The candidate will evaluate the requirements and determine an overall high-level solution to respond to customer requests for planning future work. The Systems Engineer coordinates with project managers, customers, stakeholders, and engineers to support the creation of responses to Requests for Proposals including Basis of Estimates, technical solution descriptions and/or input for high-level schedules/plans as needed to contribute to task order planning and award.
What You'll Get to Do:
•Support aspects of system engineering for SMIT, to include technical planning, design, development, integration, assessment, and requirements analysis, as well as future capability needs (near and long-term).
•Review Statement of Objectives from the customer to evaluate future task order requirements/needs.
•Analyze Requirements. Derive, decompose, and maintain technical, non-technical, functional, and non-functional requirements from an understanding of stakeholder needs, logical inference, and applicable policies and laws.
•Significant collaboration and coordination with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
•Provide solutions and Basis of Estimates to respond to customer Requests for Proposals.
•Analyze, evaluate, and plan methods of approach to provide solutions.
•Collaborate with technical experts to synthesize solution architectures and designs from requirements and constraints.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
•Requires BS and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience (preferably in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university).
•4 or more years’ experience as a Systems Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
•Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active Secret clearance to start the program.
•Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments
•Experience with requirements analysis and/or architecture synthesis and design
•Experience applying systems engineering fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments
•Experience in collaborating with other enterprise technologists both internal and external to resolve complex technical issues
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
•Experience working on DoD programs.
