Job Description:

Leidos is seeking a mid-level network information assurance engineer to support a DevSecOps environment, the implementation of a networked and distributed simulation training capability, and the operations and management of a big data management architecture.  This position will work closely with a data architect lead, DevSecOps lead and senior engineering staff to implement, configure, deploy and operate the resources needed to deploy a large scale distributed simulation training environment.  Tasks will be defined based on the skillset of the candidate and are expected to shift frequently as the staff adjusts to the operational  tempo and specific features being developed and integrated into the system.  The position requires a fair amount of independence and flexibility and the ability to work well within the context of a larger team.  The position holds potential for advancement as the team expands over the life of this program and the potential follow-on to an expanded deployment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience with managing cyber security risk management framework, and should either be familiar with or a proven ability to rapidly learn the aspects of the DOD cyber security features to succeed.  This candidate is expected to apply existing procedures and protocols, assess effectiveness and suggest changes as needed, evaluate the effectiveness of actions taken, and work in collaboration with others to manage a large and complex system being operated in a deployed distributed virtual environment. Candidates will support Cyber intrusion detection and testing, participate in cyber certification events, and provide hands-on operation of systems distributed in both local and cloud instances. Staff should assume a majority of their efforts will be remote, but some travel may be required. Duties may include but are not limited to; managing and enforcing security policies, training and educating end-users on proper security practices, conducting security and risk assessments using security frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF, Common Criteria, etc.), mitigating risk via security controls, testing and evaluation to certify and accredit commercial security products, ensuring privacy of data throughout its lifecycle, and vulnerability management (scanning, assessment, reporting, and mitigation verification).

A successful candidate will be required to possess a familiarity with network operations, experience with information assurance, demonstrate the ability to learn rapidly and adjust to a changing work environment, and participate within the context of a larger team of diverse specialties and skillsets.  The candidate will be responsible for defining the specific details of the solutions to which they are assigned.  Candidates are expected to be able to explain their rationale and defend the solutions in t eh context of larger system level requirements.  The environment is collaborative and a successful candidate needs to demonstrate expertise and domain knowledge of network fundamentals and specific area of security, information assurance, and server administration as a minimum.  Knowledge of virtualized servers is a plus.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess or be able to acquire a DOD Secret clearance

  • BS in IT, Network Engineering or a related field and 4 years of experience in the field with appropriate credentials

  • Demonstrated experience with at least one significant effort related to IA and security management

  • Appropriate credentials such as CompTIA Security+

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multiple Cybersecurity certifications

  • Demonstrated experience within the DOD network infrastructure

  • Demonstrated experience with Military training and/or simulation systems
