Summary responsibilities:
The Branch accounting and tax manager reports into the Financial Controller and is responsible for international branch accounting, controlling, reporting and tax. The role works closely with the Tax manager and statutory accounting and compliance team, as well as external tax advisors and outsourced service providers.
The role is a senior position in the team, and is expected to proactively drive process improvements and provide guidance and advice to the business whilst ensuring compliance with tax requirements.
The role is designated as a non-office based position.
Key responsibilities:
Indirect tax
Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of branch (including Ireland, Turkey and India) VAT and sales tax returns, in some cases using outsourced service providers
Review transactions and returns to ensure appropriate VAT coding
Maintain appropriate branch VAT coding process framework and oversee compliance
Work with external tax advisors to resolve VAT points, including international VAT flows
Point of contact for branch tax authority queries and issues
Direct tax
Prepare branch tax return information packs for submission to external tax services provider
Work with external tax services provider to review and finalise branch Corporation tax returns
Primary point of contact for the Leidos US tax team
Point of contact for branch tax authority queries and issues
Support 2020 CT return process
Local statutory accounts and other compliance filings
Work with outsourced service providers to ensure all required branch filings are prepared and submitted accurately and on time
Develop system processes to maximise efficiency of return preparation
UK Statutory accounts
Responsible to the preparation of the SD&A UK Ltd statutory accounts and audit process
Support transition and close out for 2019 and prep for 2020
Branch controller
Develop standard playbook for establishment of new branches
Act as lead for new branch establishment activities and support tax manager to identify opportunities
Work closely with the business and functions to ensure international branch activities are compliant with local regulations and Leidos policies and procedures
Point of contact for branch related issues
Month end close activities for branches, including review and analysis of results
Support on transfer pricing compliance
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for branch tax related general ledger accounts. Ensure branch tax balances in the general ledger are accurate and supportable, and reconciliation items are dealt with timely.
