Job Description:
Leidos is looking for a highly skilled Technical Writer with knowledge of Department of Defense policies, processes, procedures and systems that can support for Operational Requirements Documentation. The applicant must have the skillset to ensure that the Defense information Systems Agency (DISA) and all of its operational entities have the required documentation for all capabilities to monitor and manage networking, computing, and enterprise services to DISA’s customers that assist the Armed forces Around the globe. The successful applicant shall engage Operational key stakeholders, sponsors and department customers to include the Operational Centers to gather operational requirements and provide the Government the necessary documentation for proper vetting. The candidate shall be responsible for creating technical documents and manuals, explain complex information in a clear and concise manner and working with department staff to ensure accuracy of product descriptions to ensure Network Operations and Defensive Cyber Operations requirements are documented for any new services, and any capability gaps are documented for any existing service.
This position will be based onsite in Fort Meade, MD. An active TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start.
Primary Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures and manuals.
Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts.
Analyze documents and determine system requirements and gaps.
Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals.
Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation.
Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content.
Manage updates and revisions to technical literature.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Proven experience working in a technical writing position.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office tools and systems.
Strong attention to detail.
Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking.
Must hold active and current TS/SCI security clearance
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Department of Defense tools and systems.
