Leidos is seeking an MS SQL Database Administrator to join our team on an IT support contract for the Department of Defense (DoD) based at Fort Belvoir VA. The DBA will perform day-to-day database administrative task that includes design, database structure identification, database schema definition, database access privilege management, database query optimization, documentation, database instance upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and database protection. They should have experience with MS SQL Server, data backups, data recovery, and security fixes. Duties also include reviewing data within the database, ensuring user data integrity, maintaining database support tools, database tables and dictionaries, recovery and backup procedures, and making recommendations regarding enhancements and improvements.

Deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 R2 thru SQL 2019 and experience to include installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance of Microsoft database technologies.
Install, configure, and manage multiple SQL server environments with high availability and disaster recovery, to include Monitoring, Analysis, Reporting, and Data Warehouse Services and solutions.
Understand, write, and execute custom and third party SQL scripts.
Execute, manage, and validate database server backups leveraging forward thinking concepts, processes, and technology that meet the organizations Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
Responsible for operational management and implementation of upgrades and enhancements of the database environment supporting HBSS, Lync, SCCM, SCOM, Citrix, and SharePoint databases.
Troubleshoot techniques and analysis with SQL Server service outages and performance issues as they occur in real time.
Responsible for the lifecycle of SQL performing routine SQL patch updates, applicable service packs, and new major versions as they are released.
Understand Windows clustering technology to support various SQL clusters and SQL Always On Availability Groups.
Experience using SRSS to provide reporting capability to meet customer needs across multiple network enclaves.
Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remain involved in the resolution process.
Will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts.
The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users.
Higher level knowledge of standards, concepts and tools to be able to complete technology assignments.
Domain level technical knowledge to maintain databases, ensure recovery and provide patches on SQL databases.
Experience working independently on technical database administration activities in support of a client on SQL databases.
Experience with SharePoint Database Services.
Experience implementing a broad range of assignments requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
Experience developing methodologies and presenting solutions to problems to senior management and clients.
Experience interfacing with senior management and clients on requirements and solutions.
Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP)
Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance and able to obtain TS/SCI Clearance.
Requires BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of related experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Demonstrated Working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Microsoft Windows, Oracle Solaris, VMware vSphere (Virtualization Management), EMC Isolon (Storage Management), EMC Data Domain (Storage Management) SVCC, Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Oracle, MySQL.
MCSA certified on Server 2016.
Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files.
Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs.
Experience working in VmWare ESXi environments.
Experience with network storage (SAN/NAS).
Experience with enterprise backup solutions.
Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards.
Understanding of hardening the Servers and Databases following DISA STIGs.
