The Leidos Innovation Center (LiNC) at Leidos currently has an opening for an STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Preservice Educator Intern to work at our Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) customer site at the Gaming Research Integration for Learning Laboratory (GRILL) located at the Dayton Regional STEM School. This is an exciting opportunity to use your education and experience helping the Warfighter Readiness Training program mission.  The Warfighter program provides the Air Force with a wide range of research into advanced technologies to improve training effectiveness among a multitude of operationally-relevant platforms and roles

Leidos is seeking a dedicated and talented STEM Preservice Educator Intern to work as part of a leading-edge research and engineering, design and development team. Leidos seeks mission and team-oriented individuals who enjoy working as an individual contributor in highly collaborative teams.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as a STEM Preservice Educator Intern and liaison alongside the STEM Outreach Manager performing outreach to K-12 schools in the Dayton regional area as well as other areas of the state of Ohio. You will assist in providing schools with information on various outreach programs we have available at the GRILL as well as assisting in afterschool programs and career fairs that are offered to Dayton Regional STEM School and other area schools. This position will also assist in the evaluation of various STEM aids for classrooms, research, science fairs, and various other duties within the GRILL. This position is ideally suited for a candidate with an interest in nurturing young minds towards STEM related fields.

Basic Qualifications

- Education majors in their third or fourth year desired.

- Experience with STEM initiatives and integrating STEM initiatives and curricula into classrooms

- Experience in planning events or willing to learn

- Desire to work in fast-paced research environment alongside engineers

- Strong verbal, written, and communication skills.  Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

- Experience and fluency with the Microsoft Office suite.

- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

- Expected 15-25 hrs per week

Preferred Qualifications

- Coding, software, game development, and augmented/virtual reality experience given additional consideration.

- Experience with middle and high school students desired.
