The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) currently has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer Intern to support cutting edge research and development (R&D) activities in the areas of physics-based, multi-phenomenology sensor modeling and simulation, and application of machine learning algorithms to signal/object detection and situational awareness problems in Chantilly, VA. The Chantilly team’s primary focus is on R&D and advanced prototyping. Projects involve small, multi-disciplinary teams of engineers working together in spiral or agile development environments to meet aggressive customer schedules aimed at near-term capability demonstrations.
Contributing to the design and development of advanced signal processing algorithms and prototype systems as a part of multi-disciplinary teams. These teams are made up of other software team members and subject matter experts from the areas of systems engineering, hardware, software, firmware, machine learning, and image and signal processing.
Support team with designing, implementing, and testing Java based software modules for performing physics-based modeling, simulation and rendering tasks associated with various sensor modalities and concepts of operation (CONOPs).
Support team with designing, implementing, training and testing Python based machine learning models for application to signal/object detection problems as well as for generating situational awareness products from various types of contact reports.
Supporting other team members in evaluation of the performance of software modules in cloud based development environments.
Currently enrolled and pursuing degree with minimum of two years college education in the field of Computer Science with emphasis on Computer Simulation, Computer Graphics and/or Computer Vision
6-12 months of practical intern experience
1-2 years of Java (and/or C/C++) object oriented software development education and/or experience
US citizen and ability to obtain security clearance
Experience with Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence algorithms and libraries
Experience with Model-Based design code generation practices
Experience with cloud-based computing platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Experience with other programming languages such as MATLAB and Python
