The Dynetics Group within the Leidos Corporation has an opening for a Software Director.


Position Summary:
In general, the Dynetics Group Software Director will be responsible for:
•Positioning Dynetics as the leader in the development of trusted software solutions, enabling organization growth with high-tempo development of software that operates in demanding and hostile environments,
•Providing technological differentiations by leveraging all sources of software innovation both internally and externally to include IRAD, CRAD partnerships, vendors, universities/academic institutions, FFRDCs/UARCs, and M&As,
•Driving the transition of technology from research into practice to ensure technical differentiation in all of our software development and deployment efforts,
•Development and execution of Software R&D, Development, and Deployment strategies,
•Participation in Software R&D, development, and execution activities to include technical solutions for priority captures, IRAD projects, and technical performance on major programs, and
•Engaging with stakeholders both internally and externally to understand technical directions, needs, and opportunities.
•Within the Dynetics Group, the Dynetics Group Software Director will actively participate in the definition and implementation of the long-term software strategy aligned to the Group and Corporate Technology Strategies, and the ever-evolving set of Group and Corporate goals.  Additional responsibilities of the Software Director include closely collaborating with Group Management, CTO, and Business Development Leadership to execute our strategies and to further our business goals.   The Software Director will meet with current and potential customers to demonstrate the company's software credentials for solving problems with technically-sound solutions. The Software Director will also be an active participant in the Capture Process to include writing and reviewing proposal material.  The Software Director will seek partnerships with strategic suppliers, renowned universities, and research institutions to increase learning opportunities, sponsor research projects that take Group and Enterprise solutions to the next level, and where possible, showcase developing software technology both internally and externally.  The Software Director will be the chief collaborator for all software matters within the Group and to any organization within Leidos.  Additionally, the Software Director will be responsible for the development and mentoring of a set of mid to senior level software staff.
•The Dynetics Group Software Director will also be responsible for working software initiatives across the enterprise with other Groups, the Office of Technology, the Software Factories, the Leidos Software Accelerators, and the Secure Development Operations, other Accelerators, and the Technical Core Capability and Technology Enabler communities.  These initiatives will focus on R&D, capability, technical differentiation, technical solutioning, strategy development and execution, proposal development, and program execution - all to further Leidos technical discrimination and growth goals.

Basic Qualifications:
•Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Software Development and/or Software R&D Technology field, and be a recognized expert
•10-15 years of related government experience
•Prior technical roles within similar organizations with growing duties and responsibilities
•Large acquisition program experience
•Software development and deployment domain experience; specifically reusable code and agile software development methodology, modularity, microservices, real-time and imbedded software development, testing, verification, and validation, quality assurance, autonomy software development, safety critical software development, cybersecure software development, Secure Development Operations, and software development in the context of Model-Based Systems Engineering and Digital Engineering.
•Experience with policy formation, performance management, and best practices in the Defense industry
•Strong oral and written communication skills, along with public speaking skills
•Ability to influence and persuade others, as well as handle difficult negotiations requiring a well-developed sense of strategy
•Ability to mentor, lead, and promote talent
•Significant experience supporting capture activities to include chairing/participating in Gate Reviews, writing specific sections of proposals, and providing preliminary technical guidance for solutions
•TS/SCI Security Clearance
•Preference is for position to be based in Huntsville AL location, but other locations are negotiable
